"Audrey, my beautiful sister, are you ready for your birthday extravaganza?" Kai's boisterous voice bangs off the walls of my victorian home.
"Kai, why are you up this early? You never are. What are you up to?"
"Audrey come on you know I wou-"
"Would what Kai? Never trick me? You know I trust you as far as I can throw you." Who does he think he is?
I start walking away but get stopped by Kai's arm. His grip is not hard but it makes chills go through my back.
"Kai, let me go" I regrettably feel the quiver in my voice.
"Audrey, stop being rude. Why are you being like this." He clenches his jaw trying to rein in his anger.
I don't know why but I start getting scared. My brother would never do anything to hurt me... Right?
"Just let me show you my surprise. Ok? And then you can go back to bed or do whatever you want. I just want to show you." Why is Kai so desperate?
"You'll let me go after you show me right?"
"Cross my heart" he replies while making an X motion across his chest.
"Don't make me regret this"
