Bastille drove along the road in dark, travelling in the Buick Rivera. Dan found it a funny coincidence that all of them were in the same seats as they were in the things we lost in the fire video.

"So they were really vampires then?" Woody said asking a rhetorical question.

After a pause Dan said, "wicked!"

"Wicked?" Kyle asked in the back seat, next to him. "Only you would say something like that when we just nearly got killed."

"To your your house then, Dan?" Woody questioned.

"Yep. I've got a tone of food there."

"Yessss," Will said.

When they got to his house, they pulled up at the curb and got out. All of them seemed suspicious of every rustle or shadow.

"How many of them do you think there are?" Kyle asked.

"I hope not many," Will answered.

"I wish I still had that gun from the video," Woody said glumly.

"It was fake, mate," Kyle responded, "anyway, I'm glad that shirt's gone that I had to wear."

Dan sighed at their banter and unlocked the door of his semi detached house, turning on the lights. Inside, it was fairly modern with hard floors. Most of the walls were white but there were many homely possessions scattered around like his Twin Peaks box sets and CDs.

"I'll go fetch some bags from upstairs and some other stuff to pack," Dan said, jumping up the steps like he was nervous.

When he came back down he found the three of them in the kitchen, already eating.

"That's got to last us you know!" he said putting the bags on the island in the kitchen.

"How long do think we'll be travelling, like, Dan?" Woody asked, curious.

"Well, you know what they say about vampires, don't you?" Dan looked shifty like he was reluctant to say it. "They don't let anyone escape until they've bitten every last victim," he said dramatically.

Kyle burst out laughing.

"You've been watching too many horror movies," Will told him.

Dan looked frustrated and slightly embarrassed while they packed the bags silently.

"You can borrow my clothes if you want," he mumbled.

"Like my muscles will fit in them!" Will said, almost proudly.

"How many converse do you really need?" Kyle exclaimed.

"Shhh," he interrupted him, "I heard something."

He crept out into the hallway while the rest of them shoved the remaining stuff into bags. Arriving at the window, Dan peeked through the blinds onto the driveway.

"Mm," he said satisfied there was nothing there. He called back to the others "there's noth-"

The window had been forced inwards by an incredible force, the frame hitting the back of his head. Laying sprawled on his front, Dan was mildly aware of a dark shape leaping over him before he drifted into unconsciousness.
