Grabbing my books, I walked down the hallway to my next class. I had been able to avoid him all of today, but now I had to confront him. We were in the same math class.
I walked into the room and sat down at my usual seat, the one right behind my ex best friend.
...
Adam placed a note on my table. I rolled my eyes, and slowly opened it. Sorry about what happened at the party. Can we be friends again? Does he think that it's that easy?
No, never. I write. Why did you come between me and Ashton? I dropped it on his desk.
Adam slowly opened the note, and jumped when he read it. Hearing the noise, the teacher turned around. "ADAM, ALICE, no passing notes in class! You've done it before, and now again. Go down to the counselor right now."
She won't be seeing us passing notes again, I thought as I grabbed my stuff and stepped out into the cool air of the hallways.
I really didn't want to talk to the loser right now, so I stalked down the hallway to the counseling center as quickly as possible.
"Alice."
Keep moving, keep moving.
"ALICE."
Farther, farther.
"For God's sake, Alice!"
I stopped. Maybe it was time I stop running away from my problems.
"What do you want, Adam?"
"I want to be friends."
"No. No, you lost all that when you lied to me, and cheated on me, and broke my friendship with the person I cared most about in the world. You don't deserve me, or my friendship. And I never want to see you again either. We're done."
"But Alicee-"
"No. Goodbye Adam."
And with that, I walked away. I finally did it. I faced him.
A/N: YASS I got Adam out of the way! 😂 I just met with two of my favorite authors today, Laurie Halse Anderson and Margaret Peterson Haddix, and they gave me so much great advice about writing.
Thanks for reading!
