Ash was driving us to this ice cream store we used to go to when we were children, so I decided to close my eyes and take a small nap till we got there.
Just before I drifted off, A Thousand Years by Christina Perri started playing on the radio. We stopped at a traffic light, and Ash hummed softly to the lyrics of the song while twirling my hair around his finger absentmindedly. I have died, everyday, waiting for you, darling don't be afraid, I have loved you for a thousand years, I'll love you for a thousand more, all along, I believed, I would find you, time has brought heart to me, I have loved you, for a thousand years...
...
"Liss?" "Liss, wake up."
I drowsily opened my eyes, just to see Ashton's face looming in front of me. "AAH!"
He burst out laughing. "You were sleeping."
I let out a short laugh. "That doesn't mean you have to scare me!"
He smirked, and somehow that made me feel all warm inside.
"Get up, Alice. The store closes in 30 minutes. Do you want ice cream or not?"
"Okay, okay." I said, and got out of the car."
...
Licking my raspberry flavored ice cream cone, I stared at Ashton through my lashes. I felt bad for leaving him all these years. He didn't deserve it. Without knowing it, my eyes traveled to his beautiful eyes, his gorgeous hair, his perfectly shaped eyebrows...
"Alice."
"Hmm?"
"You're staring." he said, and smiled.
My cheeks turned a bright pink, and I looked down. "I was...?"
He laughed. "C'mon, let's get out of here. We're the last two people left, and it's getting late."
"Okay..."
We walked out into the cool night air, and to his car.
...
"See you at school, Alice."
"You too, Ash," I said, my lips forming a smile.
He walked over, hugged me, and kissed me lightly on the forehead. The warm feeling in my stomach returned. "Goodnight, sleep tight." And with that, he got into his car and drove away.
I got my key out, opened the door, and walked into my house.
"Hey Alice! How was that party? How was Adam?" my mother asked.
"It was... not what I expected. I'll tell you all about it tomorrow." I replied, and started walking up the stairs.
"Okay honey. Goodnight."
"Goodnight."
