Chapter Twenty-Seven

Start from the beginning

"Congrats Randhir. Good luck but I am sure she will accept." I told him and walked back to Sky and Stars with Tanvi and Saif. I am so happy for Randhir and Nidhi, Hopefully nothing bad will happen to them.

*End Flashback & POV*

I put a shocked hand on my mouth. Randhir was going to propose to me? I always had a nagging feeling that Naina was doing something wrong and it wasn't entirely Randhir's fault. But I had hurt Randhir so much. I turned to walk out of the room.

"Where are you going Nidhi?" Sia called after me.

"To win back my love." I said. I couldn't let Naina get away with taking my Randhir. No matter what, I would win him back.

I drove back to college and searched all over for Randhir. I couldn't find him anywhere, so I had to give up. I walked back to my dorm and saw Meera on the phone.

"Neel, I will take care of it. Randhir, you also calm down for the time being." she said on the phone. She spotted me.

"I have to go. Nidhi's here." she said. After saying good-bye, she put the phone down on the bed and faced me.

"Where have you been?" she asked.

"Sky and Stars, I already told you."

"Oh. Ok. Well, we need to talk." Meera said.

"I know what you want to talk about Meera. And I found out the truth today." I told her.

"What? How?" she asked. I told her everything Sia had told me. She listened to the story in amusement.

"Well then. I can confirm that everything she said is true." Meera said.

"I don't know how to apologize to Randhir! I feel so bad and, and he was trying to propose to me." I said, the words finally sinking in fully. He loved me! Not Naina!

"Yay! Meera, he loves me! He loves me!" I said, jumping in happiness.

"This calls for a treat. Let's have a Varun Dhawan marathon movie session!" she said.

"Seriously?" I asked her.

"Ice-cream is included." she said.

"You got it." I said. Sadly, we didn't have a full fledged, all night movie marathon. We fell asleep in the middle of our second movie, Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania.

The next morning, I woke up to Meera's annoying ringtone of Varun Dhawan songs mashed up together.

"Meera, answer your phone." I mumbled from my spot on the sofa.

"Tum check karo na (You check na?)" she said, her voice muffled under the pillows. I grabbed her phone and checked caller id. It was Neel. I answered it.

"MEERA RANAWAT! THE CULTURE FEST IS TODAY! WOMAN, YOU BETTER BE UP BECAUSE YOU HAVE TWENTY MINUTES TO GET YOUR BUTT DOWN HERE!" Neel yelled into the phone. I sat up instantly, Meera with a similar reaction.

"I'm almost ready!" she said, running into the bathroom to brush her teeth. I picked out my red and gold saree that I was supposed to wear today. Then, after kicking Meera out of the shower, I used it quickly and wore the saree. Then, I curled my hair and did my make-up quickly. God, we were so late.

Meera and I ran to the auditorium, only to find nobody there! "Meera? Where is-" I stopped when I didn't see her next to me.

"Meera? Kahan ho tum (Where are you)?" I called out. Then a single spotlight came in the center of the auditorium. I saw Randhir playing a familiar tune on the piano. I didn't know that he could play piano!

"Randhir? Tum-" I got cut off when he got up from the piano. I heard a note from somewhere else after he stopped playing and his hands were off the piano.

"What was that?" I asked him.

"Uhh...." he said. Neel stepped out with an iPad in his hands.

"Dude, I crossed 1000 on Piano Tiles (a game)!" Neel said. When he spotted me, he looked guilty.

"Oops, I thought this was just the rehearsal." Neel said. I couldn't help but laugh at Randhir's angry expression.

"You called Meera!" he said.

"Well, I didn't know that Nidhi would tag along!" Neel said.

Then he faced me and ran a hand through his hair, awkwardly. A strand fell over his eyes and I just couldn't help but brush it back with my fingers and put it back in it's place. He looked at me with longing in his eyes.

"Nidhi, I am so sor-" I cut him off.

"No, I am sorry. I misunderstood you and didn't listen to the full story. I should have known Naina would have plotted to do something like this. Please don't ever apologize." I said, putting my hand on his mouth.

"Now that you know, there is still something that I need to do." he said and reached inside his coat pocket. I knew that this would be the big moment. He pulled out the typical navy blue box out of his pocket and got on one knee.

"Will you be my girlfriend Nidhi?" he asked and opened the box. A miniature clown jumped out of it and I shrieked. Randhir chased after Neel, who I knew was responsible for this.

"You idiot!" he said and began to hit him.

"Leave him Randhir." I said, laughing. Then he brought out the actual box and open it. Inside was a locket which had Nidhi + Randhir = Forever on the back. He put it around me. After he was done, I hugged him tightly. It was not the perfect proposal but I loved it, just the way it was.
