Before any of us could knock the bank robber out, he passed out himself. Obviously, all of this was just too shocking and traumatizing for him.

"Aw," Lynx pouted, her arms crossing over her chest. "That's unfortunate. It would have been fun hitting him."

"Come on, Lynx," Malicius chuckled from beside her. "You know that isn't the reason we came here."

Those words made chills shoot up my spine. They weren't here for the bank robber. They were here for us, and that was the scariest part of it all.

Seeing the two of them together, I could finally see what kind of relationship they had. I knew Lynx adored Malicius, though I couldn't tell if this love was romantic or platonic. Malicius, however, didn't have the same adoration for Lynx as she did for him. He cared for her, sure, but he saw her more as a child than anything else. They did have a pretty dramatic age difference.

Seeing Lynx's claws made me shiver. I remembered the scratch that she had given me the last time we had met, which was already gone from my arm. I had always healed quickly, ever since I was a kid, but I was surprised that her scratch didn't take very long to heal. It was as if I hadn't ever been scratched by her.

"What do you want?" Aiden demanded, taking a threatening step toward them. I was waiting for his hands to engulf in flames again, but that didn't happen. "You're not supposed to be here."

Malicius let out a bark of laughter. "Don't you brats get it?" he asked, his eyebrow arching up. "It's our job to go places we're not supposed to be."

The smug look on Lynx's face made my skin crawl. She was giving us a look like she had already won and we hadn't even started fighting yet.

"We'll take that from you," she grinned, jumping up and pouncing at Kristie. Instead of attacking her, she snatched the sack of money instead. "This'll be a nice investment for Redrum. Don't you think, Mal?"

He smirked. "Definitely."

"What do you want?" Dex demanded instead of Aiden now, his arms crossing over his chest.

"Well, I'd tell you want I really want," Lynx smirked seductively at him, waving her claws at him, "but I don't think now's the proper town. Meow."

I couldn't help but make a face. That was really creepy.

"Can't I just meet team VAKAD?" Malicius asked us now, and there was just something about his voice that put me on edge. It was deep and rough, and the scar down his face made him even scarier. "We're going to be seeing a lot of each other, so we might as well have a formal introduction."

"Didn't you already find out all about us?" Aiden spat at them, and my mind flashed back to the screen where all their information popped up. "Didn't you guys get a little study session with all our information?"

Lynx waved her hand in front of her face. "Of course we did," she said, as if it was no big deal. "But even though we know everything about you, we haven't seen each other in person, not counting that time in that alley, but Malicius wasn't there!"

I couldn't help but feel a little agitated. I didn't know how far this was going to go. I had no idea how much it was going to escalate. It really made me nervous that I just didn't know.

"Split up," Aiden suddenly barked over his shoulder.

"What?" I blinked, not sure if I had heard him correctly or not.

"There're five of us and two of them!" he shouted now. "Split up!"

There was no more time for questions. My teammates now took off in different directions, and I knew I had to as well. So I ran, hoping that our two enemies would not follow me.
