Battered and bruised

We're all battered and bruised
Torn apart and abused
The trials and pain life has thrown at us sometimes physical others mental
Whatever it may be there's a battle and cost but it's never a label
We desire to be fixed to change what's broken inside
But there's nothing broken nor to fix so quit trying to hide
I'm a sinner like you I've had short comings and set backs
Break downs in corners, happy days, and panic attacks
But when my eyes saw that city of gold just beyond the hill
I realized how life is amazingly so surreal
I see the bruises and lines covering people's skin
And I think back to what must've caused them to begin
And then I see others but instead of lines on their wrist you see the bags in their eyes
Because what they though they realized was the bad and their short comings and thinking I want to die
We are all loyal to someone or something
Hoping for love or loving to sin
We all have worth more than can be calculated
That's why God died on the cross battered and bruised, shattered and abused
Fighting an uphill battle that seems impossible
Just remember you make everything possible
Day by day there's a difference just because you're living
So the thoughts, the lines, the bruised, all of you quit dying
Turn your back on what was and what you did
The thing that defines you is what you choose to do instead
There is life after heartbreak and life after being shattered
And just know I'm with you we are the battered and bruised, the shattered and abuse
