Concrete

I breathe in the air of this concrete jungle
Despite the atrocities I smell beauty which leaves me befuddled
Where a tree of green used to stand now lies a pillar of concrete
Where my peaceful get away was now lies a street
The flowers in the meadow by the creek
They used to be loud but now they hide and are meek
The rarity is the quintessence of its beauty
Where blue skies used to be they're now steely
We destroyed the better tomorrow by trying to force it
But the jungle still lives in its
spirit
The freedom and adventure to create your imagination
Is your very own key to salvation
Instead of concrete trees why not plant real ones
And watch the beauty sprout under the sun
