this winter wonder

frost glazes windows

and pale green grass

grounds lay sprinkled

with the night's flurries

crisp cold air

blankets the small town

breaths come in plumes

of milky white air

and float on away

school is out

and people of all kinds

curl up with warm drinks

and cozy sweaters

and waste away the hours

with pleasant nothings

daylight fades early

and lights twinkle on

wood crackles in the hearth

the orange glow

where all eyes can't help

but gaze

as crystallized windows

glittering the flickering blaze

and when the fire dies down

the lights go out

and dreams become

a beautiful haze
