Dan's trying so damn hard not to care what anyone else says about him and Phil. Every time someone asks him about it in the hallway whether or not he's 'the boy Lester is dating.' He just kindly rolls his eyes and heads off to class, because in all reality, he doesn't know the truthful answer to that. He won't admit how much he's still subconsciously hoping that maybe he is the boy Lester is dating. Would it bring trouble? No doubt. Still, it's hard not to wish the person he's falling for is falling for him back.

Pj has, once again, reminded him on countless occasions that this is Phil Lester they're talking about, and how that's an absolutely ridiculous idea. And Dan usually trusts Pj, because Pj is usually right. But in this case, there's something telling him that if anyone's going to understand Phil Lester, it's Dan. Phil's won bets like this before. Phil has fucked people he didn't like before. Dan knows that. But he's never heard of him going this far to do it.

When Dan walks into class on Tuesday, he feels a hand on his back, so he turns around. Before he process anything, there's a pair of lips on his own, and Dan kisses back on instinct. It's Phil, of course, and everyone else can see that as well.

Dan pulls away, several shades redder. It's not like he'll get in trouble with the teacher, but it's just the thought of this. The same thing Phil did to him after only a few days of knowing him.

He just sits down, not making eye contact with anyone staring, trying to pull papers out of his backpack to distract himself.

Once everyone has gone back to whatever conversations they originally were in, he speaks. "What was that for?"

Phil doesn't even say a word, just shrugs coolly.

"Phil!"

"There's no reason! Can't a boy kiss his-" Phil pauses for a second, "Friend?"

"Friend. Friends don't kiss in the middle of class, Phil."

"I've kissed my friends before," Phil objects.

"Not randomly in the middle of class. Why in class? Can't you just wait till we're out?"

"Then people wouldn't see it," Phil says calmly, leaning back in his chair.

Sometimes, Dan doesn't get why Phil says things so calmly. Also, he doesn't understand Phil's mind process between anything he does. Ever. "Why the hell would we need that?"

Phil's silent for a few more seconds, but by the time Dan is about to urge him to answer, the bell rings and Dan isn't willing to talk in class. He keeps flashing Phil dirty looks during class, but he doesn't question it any further.

By the end of the day, Dan still has no idea what Phil's doing, but he waits by Phil's locker. It takes Phil a few minutes to show up, but he looks a bit confused.

"Phil," Dan says. "We're going on a date. Come on."

Phil raises an eyebrow but chuckles lightly. "This is a little last minute, don't you think?"

Dan nods. "Obviously, it is. Do you have plans?"

"Not any that I can't cancel."

"We're going to the coffee shop across the street. Nothing fancy. But there's nothing sexual that's going to happen during. Got it?" Dan speaks quickly to keep his confidence up. If he waits too long, he may actually realize he's asking Phil Lester on a date to a coffee shop.
