Chapter 11
Teddy Lupin

Teddy, mostly healed and better from the flu, was sitting in the transfiguration classroom, with Tonks, waiting for McGonagall to show up for their weekly lesson. So far, she was five minutes late. Quite unlike the woman who always seemed prompt and punctual. The two sat in mostly silence.

"Ugh! I'm so bored." Tonks groaned. "Where is McGonagall?"

"I dunno, maybe she got held up by something important." Teddy sighed

"What's more important that previous commitment?" Said Tonks, with a cheeky smile.

Teddy threw a book at her.

"What do you think you're doing?" Tonks said with a fake face of shock. "That book was probably more important than you or anything you will ever do in your life. Never trash these literary volumes. They will be the only things that might bring you through any time of your life when you are lonely. They are your friends."

Teddy snorted at the young girl.

"Geez, Dora. You're full of it."

"You don't like my madam Pince impression?" She put her hand to her chest in mock hurt. "I don't know Ted, I think you've broken my heart.

"You'll get over it." He assured her.

"Ugh! That wasted no time at all!." Nymphadora groaned again "Only a minute has passed." Teddy glance at the clock. Sure enough what his young mother had said was true.

"So you only talked to me because you wanted time to pass." Teddy raised an eyebrow at her "I feel loved.

"Oh don't feel so hurt." She rolled her eyes "I'm just really impatient. Mum says that's why I'm not 'into'" she used air quotations "cleaning and schoolwork and such." She shook her head "That's not the reason. I'm just slightly lazy and not so slightly clumsy."

Teddy felt a pang in his heart when he connected the dots. The 'mum' Tonks mentioned was also Teddy's late grandmother, who had died not long ago.

"What's the matter?" The joking gone from the young girl's voice.

"Nothing, just- nothing." Teddy's voice wave very quiet.

"I know something's wrong." Tonks persisted "We're metamorphmagi. We can't exactly hide our feelings very well." Teddy inwardly cursed his supposed 'gift'. "Your hair is blue."

"Nothing, it's just- well your mum really reminds me of my grandmother." He replied reluctantly.

"Well you can go see her just at the end of the week when school's out." Tonks gave him a sad smile.

"No, Tonks, she passed away last year." He felt a tear drip onto his cheek.

"Oh, I am so sorry." Dora put her hand to her head and cursed her previous words. "Well you can see your parents."

"No," Teddy said again. "They both died when I was only two weeks old."

"Well I give up." Tonks sighed "Is your maiden Aunt dead too?" It was a weak attempt to make the boy laugh but it worked. He let out a little chuckle.

"No," he reassured her "Both my parents were only children."

"So no more deaths?"

"Well..."

"I don't want to hear it." They both laughed

Suddenly the door opened. The four other Gryffindor seventh years piled into the room. They were laughing about something or other and didn't seem to notice the other two in the room. Both Tonks and Teddy just waited to see when they would notice their presence. They shared a glance before just staring at the so called 'Marauders'.
