We fit together in ways that others cannot see. Our hearts united in perfect symmetry. I don't understand it, this beautiful mystery – but I'll never take for granted the gift you are to me. ~John Mark Green.

Emma sat in Granny's diner after her parents announced the name of her new little brother – Neal. She couldn't help but notice the small smile on Gold's face as Mary Margaret said the name. She peered across the room to Regina. The woman was standing towards the back of the room talking to Henry. He hasn't left her side since he got his memories back.

She kept looking over at Robin. He was constantly looking longingly at Regina which made her feel protective of the woman. She just wanted to wrap her arm around Regina's waist, hold her tight, and kiss her senseless in front of everyone.

But she couldn't. Emma didn't understand why, but Regina had barely spoken to her in the past week never mind kissed her. She didn't blame her though. Seeing the tattoo on Robin's wrist probably scared the shit out of her.

After about an hour of sitting alone, Emma watched her parents who were dancing together with such love and passion in their eyes. Henry was now talking to Archie and Regina was sitting alone in the booth in the far corner of the diner.

After a few minutes, Emma got up and made her way over to Regina. "I'm sorry to interrupt but would you like to dance, Madame Mayor?" she asked, shooting her a flirty smile and offered her a hand.

Regina looked up, their eyes met and she smiled. "Of course, Sheriff," she chuckled, slipping her hand into hers and entwining their fingers.

Emma led her into the middle of the floor and wrapped her arms around her waist and held her close. They danced slowly, neither of them saying anything.

"Henry was asking about us," Regina mumbled with a little emphasis on the 'us'.

The song suddenly changed before Emma had a chance to respond and a wide smile spread across her face. She pulled Regina closer to so their bodies were pressed tightly together.

Regina let out a soft squeak in surprise but settled into her touch.

Emma mumbled the lyrics as they danced; this song was perfect.

"When you hold me in the street

And you kiss me on the dance floor

I wish that it could be like that

Why can't it be like that

Cause I'm yours

We keep behind closed doors

Every Time I see you, I die a little more

Stolen moments that we steal

As the curtain falls

It'll never be enough.

It's obvious you're meant for me

Every piece of you, it just fits perfectly

Every second, every thought, I'm in so deep

But I'll never show it on my face

But we know this, we got a love

That is homeless

Why can't you hold me in the street?

Why can't I kiss you on the dance floor?

I wish that it could be like that

Why can't we be like that?

Cause I'm yours.

When you're with him, do you call his name

Like you do when you're with me?

Does it feel the same?

Would you leave If I was ready to settle down?

Or would you play it safe and stay?

Girl, you know this, we got a love that is homeless.

Why can't you hold me in the street?

Why can't I kiss you on the dance floor?

I wish that it could be like that

Why can't we be like that?

Cause I'm yours

And nobody knows

I'm in love with someone's baby

I don't wanna hide us away

Tell the world about the love we're making

I'm living for that day,

Someday.

Why can't I hold you in the street?

Why can't I kiss you on the dance floor?

I wish that it could be like that

Why can't we be like that?

Cause I'm yours

I'm yours

Oh, why can't you hold me in the street?

Why can't I kiss you on the dance floor?

I wish that it could be like that

Why can't we be like that?

Cause I'm yours

Why can't I say that I'm in love?

I wanna shout it from the rooftops

I wish that it could be like that

Why can't we be like that?

Cause I'm yours.

Why can't we be like that?

Wish we could be like that.

The song ended, and Regina was staring up at her in pure awe.

Emma hesitantly leaned in and captured her lips in a gentle kiss. "I've been waiting all week to do that," she mumbled as they pulled apart. Regina ran her thumb along her cheek. "I want there to be an us, Gina. I don't know whether that conversation in your office made us official. Then when you found out that Robin was the tattoo guy-" Her rambling was cut off by a thumb trailing over her lower lip.

"I'm sorry I've been ignoring you, Em. Seeing Robin with the tattoo on his wrist terrified me," she whimpered. "My head said one thing but my heart said another. But I'm not afraid anymore and I know what I want."

"And that would be?" Emma asked, raising an eyebrow teasingly.

Regina smiled and pressed their lips together again. "You, Emma. Only you." She tangled her fingers in the soft blonde curls at the nape of her neck. "Will you be my girlfriend, Emma? So, I can officially call you mine?" she husked in a low seductive tone and a hint of lust in her eyes.

Emma chuckled. "yes, Gina," she whispered with a smile plastered across her face.

Regina smiled and kissed her again, Emma kissed her back almost instantly. Their lips moved together perfectly.

This was good; this was right.
