Maybe Date

Teresa's POV

I sit in front of my closet and sigh, what do you wear for a date that's not actually a date but might be a date. Why couldn't he have specified what he meant by going to the movies!? I think.

I finally decide on an outfit that says 'I just threw this on, but I still look great anyway.' After I get dressed, I curl my hair and put on a bit of makeup.

I hate makeup, but I figure a little wouldn't hurt if I'm actually going out on a Saturday night.

I look at the clock: 5:57. Shoot!

I quickly brush my teeth and put on some perfume before running down to the bookshop, trying to look casual until he got there by reading a book.

At 6:01 He walks into the store, looking handsome as ever. "Hey Teresa." He smiles. I put down my book, almost speechless by his looks.

"Hi Thomas." I smile and tuck a piece of hair behind my ear. Ugh I sound so cringy.

"Are you ready?"

"Yep." I say. To my surprise he takes my hand in his and doesn't let go until we have to get in his car. The contact makes my hand feel tingly.

"What movie do you want to see?" He asks.

"Well," I say, "The Boy is on in 10, we could see that." I love scary movies! It would also be good for getting closer to Thomas.

He raises his eyebrow, as though surprised. "Okay, I've been wanting to see that." He says.

"I just hope you won't get too scared." I tease.

He laughs. We pull in the parking lot and walk into the theater.

"2 for The Boy." Thomas says and pays. After we get our tickets he asks, "do you want popcorn?"

"We're at the movies, popcorn is a necessity!" I laugh.

He buys us popcorn and then we find our seats in the middle of the theater. There weren't many people there which was good.

I feel Thomas's hand on mine and I smile at him. Then the movie starts and I focus my eyes to the screen. A while into it, he does the cheesy thing where he pretends to yawn and puts his arm around me. I roll my eyes and smile at him, resting my head on his shoulder.

At 'scary' parts (I really wasn't scared, I just wanted to get closer to him) I buried my face in his chest, it wasn't kissing or anything but I knew now that this was definitely a date.

When the movie is over, we both get up, smiling. I was hoping this wasn't the end of our date.

"Do want to go for ice cream?" He asks.

I smile and reply, "Ya, sure."

When we get to the towns ice cream only shop  (which by the way is the greatest ice cream place ever!) I order myself a rocky road and he orders mint chip. I pull out my wallet.

"No its okay, I'll pay." He interjects.

"No, you payed for the movie and the popcorn, the least I can do is pay for your two dollar ice cream cone." I say. Then, I hand the money to the man at the counter before he can say anything else. He laughs and playfully rolls his eyes but doesn't push it further. I smile and grab the ice cream cones once they're ready and hand him the mint chip. We sit at a table a ways from the other people in the shop and sit down across from each other.

"So Teresa," He smiles, "Whats your story?" he says.

"You know thats about the most cliche thing you could have said." I laugh.

He laughs, "But really, how can a girl as interesting and as funny as you not be super popular or whatever. I mean personally I think popularity is over rated but still." He says.

My cheeks turn pink, "I don't know, I guess people don't care much for girls who can't chant a cheer or do a cartwheel." I shrug.

"Hm." He syas, as if he's thinking.

"So what about you, I mean i know your a popular football jock who should by stereotype be a jerk but isn't, but what else should I know about you?" I ask.

"Well... my favorite color is red." He says.

I laugh, "Thanks for that." I smile, "But really, what in the world would motivate a guy like you to even talk to someone like me?"

"Someone like you as in...?"

"A total nerd, invisible to people like you unless you're tripping me in the hallway." I tell him.

He shakes his head, "I already told you, I don't care about that kind of stuff, I like you because your smart and funny and you seem interesting. None of the 'popular' girls are like that, they just want to talk about how great they look and football and cheerleading." He tells me. This makes me smile wider with each word, he is different, really different, and I think I like him. A lot.

When we get back to my house/ bookshop he walks to the door with me, such a gentleman.

"I had a great time with you tonight." I say smiling.

"I did too." He smiles. I fiddle with my keys a bit, not wanting to leave just yet, something was missing. I look up and smile to him, catching his bright eyes in mind. H slightly touches my chin and I start to lean in. He closes this gap and our lips touch. From this moment on it felt like we were the only two people in the world. Fireworks went off inside me and I couldn't breath. I've kissed a guys before, but its never been like this.

After what seems like years he pulls away, leaving me breathless.

"Goodnight." I smile.

He smiles and begins to walk back to his car, "goodnight."
