Those God Forsaken Tears

One day in the Caribbean

On a soothing bus ride home

You weren't even gone yet and,

The thoughts condoned

I couldn't mask it.

I cried like a kid ...

That was your effect on me.

Though you have lived most selfishly ,

I couldn't be more grateful.

I've never done goodbyes well,

For Usually I get to say hello again,

But through the tears that began to swell,

I wont ever get the chance to amend.

Enduring so many misfortunes life has brought,

Like no dinner this night,

To sleeping on old robes on a broken wooden floor.

Every turn a bold black crossed stripe

And an unanswered knock on charity's door

Help turned to hostility,

You underestimated your own ability,

To be a good Mom.

If only you had tried.

Still I cannot bear the thought

Of seeing you in a casket

No more than I can stomach

My failed ideas , overflowing in a wastepaper baskets
