 Part 7

Evan’s P.O.V

Now I know why that girl seemed so strange. She’s one of them. That’s unusual though, I thought their kind were hunted to extinction, and she doesn’t seem like she knows the full extent of what she can do. Gosh, I hope she isn’t one because if she is…I don’t have much time to help her.

I looked up at the sky. It was as if father was looking down at me.

“Why?”

I  thought to myself.

“Why are you torturing me? Why are you giving me a chance?”

I simply sighed. He wasn’t going to answer. He never did. But even his silence spoke many words. This girl. She, was my only way out. Someone wanted her gone. And I was to protect her with my life, or get rid of her first.

McKenzie’s P.O.V

“That was so weird how you saw the bomb!”

I chattered,

“And how come I didn’t see it?”

I looked eagerly at my best friend. Calista simply sighed and shrugged her lean shoulders, making her soft brown hair hide her face. I so wish I had hair like hers. I’s a surprise that Matt likes ME and not HER! Still, Matt likes me and I’m not about to question that logic.

The bell rang and I turned to give Calista a huge smile and a hug.

“Remember, If Evan’s in your class, just try to stay as unnoticeable as possible, and as far away from him as possible. Okay, I gotta go now. Luv ya babe!”

I waved at a very depressed looking Calista as I turned around and ran to Drama. I was already late.

I looked at my watch 1 minute left. Shoot! I’m all the way across the school! There’s no

WAY I can make it there in time! Still, it never hurts to try.

I put my head down, steadied myself, and sprinted to the drama room.

Almost there, Almost…there!

I could feel myself being propelled forward, my hair whipping across my face.

Faster, faster, then

“OOMPH!”

I let out a huge gasp as the air was knocked out of me, and both I, and the person I had knocked into, went toppling to the floor.

“Jeez! Watch where you’re running will ya?”

A deep voice groaned from underneath me. I gasped before quickly getting off the guy.

He slowly stood up and stretched. His blond and black hair was slightly mussed up but he didn’t seem to notice. Instead, he turned around to face me.

“Oh!” I said. He looked confused,

“Y-you’re the new guy. Logan”

A large, slightly mesmerizing grin came onto his face.

“I’ve only been here a day and already all the hot girls know my name.” He smirked,

I blushed, then swatted him in the shoulder. I liked Matt, not this cocky guy.

After getting myself together I looked up at him again. He was still smiling which made me blush. He just laughed and gave me a small wink. I coughed to try and make the situation less awkward.

“Soo…where…where are you going?”

Logan frowned and looked at his schedule “Drama, I think.”

I gasped. Then burst out laughing. Logan simply stared at me.

“What?”

“Well, firstly, your hair reminds me of a squashed porcupine.”

Logan quickly pulled out a mirror from his bag and got to work on hurriedly fixing it.

“And secondly, if you’re heading to Drama, you’re going in completely the wrong direction.”

Logan blushed. The faint red shade of his cheeks matched his eyes. Then he seemed to realize that he was blushing and smiled again,

“Well if you’re so smart why don’t you show me the right way to get to drama? Which class were you running off to anyway?”

“Well, as a matter of fact I was going to drama too. So, yes. I’ll show you the way. But only under one condition.”

His smile instantly disappeared and was replaced with a grimace,

“What’s that?” He asked warily,

“Can I use you for an excuse as to why I’m 25 minutes late?”

He grinned.
