Giles

The guests arrived one by one, having no idea what they were in for. They thought they had won a sweepstakes in which the would spend a week in a mansion.

Little did they know that every day, one of them would die.

I didn't know either when I took the offer as the Butler for the horrid game. But, nonetheless, I was there and any attempt of escape would result in my immediate death.

Sam

My first thoughts- Why am I here? Who are these people? Who is that old guy coming down the stairs?

All of those questions were about to be answered.

In the worst way possible.

It turned out the Butler's name was Giles. What he told us was simple.

"It seems that everyone has arrived, so I now will explain why you are here. The 13 of you have been chosen to play a horrendous game of life and death. Every day you are here, one of you will die. I know not who the killer is, but I do know this- the killer is standing in this very room. Now you all have a long day ahead of you, so I suggest you rest. You may spend the rest of the day however you like, but make sure you are at the dining room behind us by 7:00, as we will be having a formal dinner. You may explore the house if you would like. These maids here will show you all to rooms, where there are computers, but no Internet," he said. Yeah. Simple.

At my room, I tried to digest what Giles told us. It was about 4:30 when I decided to take a look around the giant house.

I walked to the main dining room and saw some other people whose names I recalled to be Dan and Alex. They were talking about some of her former students.

"If you don't mind me barging in, would you two like to form a kind of truce? I know I don't really know either of you and you probably don't know each other, but an old man like me can't... Deal with this on his own," I said.

Dan responded with a possibly too quick answer. "What do mean, 'truce'? That Giles guy couldn't have been serious about the whole murder thing... Could he?"

"Yeah, I guess you're right," I said. "I was just being paranoid. Sorry for bothering you." I walked back to my room, now considering if what Giles said was even true.

I spent my few hours trying to make friends with people, so if the murder scenario was real, I wouldn't get killed first. First I talked to Matt, the Football coach.

"Hey Matt!" I called. He was at a table across the room already talking to Taylor the cop. He beckoned for her to come along.

"Yeah?" He said.

It was then when I realized I didn't have any conversation starters until I saw the beer in his hand.

"Where'd you get that beer?" I asked awkwardly.

He chuckled and said "I certainly didn't steal it from the fridge!"

Taylor whispered to me behind her hand the words "Yes he did."

I just laughed and walked away.

Next I walked up to Dylan, who was admiring the high arches in the hallway.

"These things are amazing, huh?" He asked.

"What? Oh, yeah. The arches." I figured then that wasn't going to make any friends very easily, so I just gave up and went back to my room to take a nice, long nap. Maybe none of it was real. Maybe it was all just a joke and no one was in danger.

I was wrong.
