"Will training commence on schedule?"Miles asked Maxwell. Maxwell averted his gaze at the security coms towards Miles. He rubbed at his weary eyes and let out a groan. "I fear for them, Miles." Maxwell started, "They are cowards - only thinking of themselves. They hadn't had a chance to think of the change." Miles took of his glasses and stared at Maxwell. "Sir if I may, you haven't exactly told the kids what we do here." Miles refuted. Maxwell seemed aggravated as he stood up in a jolt from his chair. "I know, I know! I plan to tell them myself during training." Maxwell pointed his finger at Miles, "You are responsible for their training. If these kids aren't full experts on my program I will not be happy." With that Maxwell swiftly left the door leaving Miles alone in the security room.
Miles took one last look at all the coms before he transported himself to his nice, warm comfy bed. He flipped through hallway coms in order. Hallway 1, hallway 2, hallway 3, hallway 4, all clear He thought. As he flipped on the com for hallway 5 he noticed a blur of movement run past his screen. Miles in a shock went to hallway 6 to check the progression of the movement. Nothing on this com Miles realized. He quickly flipped through the other coms to try to find the blur of movement.
Hallway 3. The movement stopped. It's one of those damn kids! What are they doing out of their dorms at this time? Miles realized. He panicked and lifted himself from the chair. Miles grabbed his handgun on the table. He made sure it was loaded with bullets. Maxwell doesn't need to know of this Miles realized. He rushed out and sped through all the different hallways. Past several corners. He held his trusty fully loaded Magnum to his side. His hands trembling in fear.
After minutes of exploring he rammed into the kid. Miles and the kid were both knocked down to the ground. Miles' glasses flew off of his face and smacked into the ground. The kid started to lift himself from his fallen position. Not today Miles thought. He grabbed the kid's foot causing him to trip and fall to the ground. Miles carefully hoisted himself in a standing position, heaving. He slid his glasses back on and held the Magnum in front of him.
"Stay down!" Miles yelled at the kid, with his revolver pointed on the back of his head. The kid turned his head around. Tears slipped from his dark eyes. Miles shifted over to the boy and grabbed him by the back. He hoisted the kid up from the ground. "You made a big mistake," Miles muttered into the kid's ear.
Miles held the gun at the back of his head as he led him to Maxwell's room. Passing hallway after hallway. His capturer obediently followed, silent. Once he reached the entrance to Maxwell's room he thud with his wrist frantically at the door. "Who is it at this time?" He heard Maxwell through the muffle of the door. The door swung open and the old man stood there, in his robe with his eyes nearly shut. Miles showed him the kid. "Todd Allen, why do you bring him here? Do you have any idea what time it is Miles?" Maxwell angrily grunted. "Sir, Todd was running through the halls late at night. He might have been planning an escape." Miles explained. Maxwell nodded.
"Nice catch Miles, excellent work," Maxwell said. He stared at Todd directly in the eyes. Todd stared back in a hellish glare. "Unfortunately, you know the procedure Miles." Maxwell informed. Miles feared the procedure. But it must be done. "And Miles, you have the honor of following that procedure since you caught him." Maxwell finished. Miles cursed under his breath. "Yes sir." Miles stammered as Maxwell shut the door. Miles stared at Todd in the eyes. It's Murder Todd thought. He couldn't bring himself to kill. "I'm sorry." Miles muttered under his breath. He then led Todd, to his death.
