Sebastian was in Com-M'ing with his associates concerning Charles. He told them of his meetings with Valerie and Will. He was about to contact Keith Nie until he sensed something.

His eyes shifted to an emerald green. "No..." He instantly ran out the door. "Devin! Everyone, stop!" He shouted at them.

Nate moved quickly and blocked the doorway with his body. His dark wings sprouted and he screamed with agony. He fell to his knees, he could hear someone yelling. He closed his eyes and passed out. When he opened his eyes, he was laying on the sofa. He sat up and saw CJ sitting across from him on another couch. She was terrified and nervous.

"W-What happened?" He asked her, she avoided his gaze

"Y-You...passed out. The boy with the green eyes got a bad headache and went home. Everyone else left too." She explained, he saw a teacup steaming in front of her.

He chuckled. "Did you drink any?"

The boy saw her anxious and frightened reaction, he realized something and sighed with regret. "How much did you actually see?"

"The girl with green eyes got mad when she saw me, and furniture staring floating. W-Wings went into your back. E-Everyone had guns pointed at me."

"Look, Miss--"

She interrupted. "I-It's CJ. My name's CJ." The girl fearfully held her hand out, but met his eyes confidently. "Thank you...f-for saving me. If it wasn't for you and your w-wings I'd be dead."

He shook her hand. "It's nice to meet you, CJ." He stood to his feet. "The truth is--"

She interrupted by standing also. "You're all veers...I get it."

"That's true. But, that's not it. We really value our privacy here." He moved and sat next to her. "You don't have to be scared. We're not gonna hurt you."

"Sorry, but I don't believe you. There was a Burning Guy who tried to kill me on the road earlier."

She leaned forward to grab the teacup and took a sip.

Nate was angry and caught off guard. "W-What!?"

She opened her mouth to speak but stopped when she saw Peter. A strange orange glow outlined his body. He saw the same phenomenon when he watched her. Sebastian stood behind him with Bailey. He touched his son's shoulder and walked toward CJ.

"I'm so sorry about what happened to you, it must've been horrifying. I assure you, we will get to the bottom of this. I'm Sebastian Talbot."

"Nice to meet you."

Sebastian looked over at his eldest son. "You need to heal, go to your room and rest. I'll make you some lunch."

The boy nodded and left. The man then looked at his daughter.

"No more tantrums, young lady. Is that clear?"

Bailey sighed and grunted. "But it's all her fault anyway! If Peter hadn't brought over a Ske--!"

He interrupted. "Bailey! Watch...your mouth."

CJ was confused. "A what? Hold on--is this a race thing?" She rose and approached the girl defensively.

Bailey chuckled and walked toward her, the two were standing face to face. Peter reacted and moved as a buffer between the girls. She looked over at her father. "Skelt. It's a derogatory term for hu-man."

CJ glared. "Take it back!"

Bailey scoffed in amusement. "Make me."

"Enough!" Sebastian interrupted

CJ folded her arms and headed to the door. "Can I go home now?"

He sighed. "I wish it were that easy."

His words alarmed her. This made her feel nervous and defensive. "Y-You can't keep me here."

The man stepped toward her. "CJ, you've seen things that no hu-man is supposed to. We can't risk you telling anyone about us. Peter told me everything. I actually know your cousins, Bryce and Heidi."

"R-Really?"

He nodded. "I know Will, too. He's been a great ally to all to us. Peter says...that you glow orange sometimes."

She looked at Peter, he was glowing again. "W-What are you talkin' about? He's the one glowing, not me!" Everyone looked at him, they saw nothing like that. Sebastian approached him.

"So, tell me. Is CJ glowing again?" He asked him, the boy looked at her

"No, but she was when I came from your office."

Sebastian chuckled with disbelief and began to think out loud "Then...its really happening. Glowing hasn't happened in a very long time. But that would definitely explain it. And he did save her life--"

Bailey interrupted. "Talbot, you're babbling!"

"Oh! R-Right!"

CJ eyed him skeptically as he continued.

"Peter has a...desire to protect you now. To put it simply--the two of you are tied, forever."

The two looked at each other strangely. They then avoided eye contact altogether.

"Okay. I heard enough-- I'm outta here." CJ expressed

"Peter will drive you." Sebastian commented

"No thanks. I'll take my chances on foot." She smiled politely and ran outside.

CJ walked down the road, she was angry and really annoyed. "I knew it. I just knew that moving to this town was a mistake! I'm gettin' the hell outta here when I graduate." She said to herself, she clenched her fists and the streetlights began to spark. She yelped and ran away.
