Sonnet No. IV:

Walk on Water

©2010, Olan L. Smith

I walk as god and stroll upon a sea,

A water's tempest Galilean lore,

But true a storm will tell of dread to be;

My heart is racing quicker than before

And listens to an echo like lub-dub,

A pounding throb― as I am drenched in rain

And ruin is come, beyond Him soars a dove;

Her wings are shifting air and will sustain

Above, she flies so high. A sinking down;

He reaches out commanding me to rise!

A calm within His soul — my hope is found

And now I know such dominion defies,

To walk a surface with security;

I forever recognize your guarantee.
