In a few weeks, the piece that would be attached to Alana's bones was built to perfection. Alec was nervous to actually weld it into place, but he knew that it would have to be done before the rest of the wings could be put into place.

Alana smiles at him after Alec expresses his worry for her, "Do not worry Alec, I have been through much more than a simple touch of heat." The fact that she considered the searing metal a 'simple touch of heat' amazed Alec.

Then they begin. Alec heats the appropriate pieces, forcing himself to consider the task as a blacksmith and not the way he viewed Alana.

Alec and Alana stayed in the forge from early that morning to late into the evening, Alec only leaving to get a stitching kit from Heira. He felt no guilt in taking it, as she had not used it since giving up her healing profession.

Alec had Alana once again stand with her arms parallel to the floor, and delicately re-opened the scars with a thin blade. He was surprised to find that not much blood was produced, and it quickly stopped flowing from the wound.

"Only immortal or permanent injuries affect a Seraph the way simply things can hurt a human." Alana explained when questioned, "Such as the loss of our wings."

Alec filed the information away, too engrossed in his work to find his curiosity.

"Ready?" Alec asks Alana. She nods, doing her best to relax and make his job as simple as possible. Gently, Alec presses the heated metal against the now exposed bone on Alana's back.

Alana lets out a feral purring sound, much like the growl from when the two had met.

Alec does not let this phase him as he continues on, perfectly calm and focused.

Soon enough, there are two metal attachments through the scar, long and slender, with a surprising elegance, as if they where the original portions of Alana's wings.
