Alec and Alane finally get out of bed, Alane not at all affected by the experience but Alec still bearing a red tint. Once he had realized that he was on top of Alane he had quickly gotten up, apologizing repeatedly,  to Alane's amusement.

They walk back out to the forge, it being like a safe haven where only Alec, Alane and the glowing embers where relevant.

Once the door was shut behind them and the fire was started, Alec took Alane's hand and looked into her eyes for a moment before saying, "I may have a way to get you wings."

Alane stands there, stunned and staring at him wide eyed. "My... my wings?"

"They won't be like your wings before, but they will allow you to fly again." Alec clarifies.

Alane is torn between sadness and joy, trying to find a way to explain the complicated laws and structures that make up the angelic society.

"Alec... I would love to fly again, but-"

"Then we have work to do," the gleam of determination in his eyes silences her.

"How are you to get me wings?" She asks, genuinely curious.

Alec grins, seeming like a mad scientist with the perfect experiment. "With some luck, skill and Amarithium."

Slowly, understanding dawns on Alane. "You're going to make me wings?"

Alec nods, picking up some of the precious Amarithium, "They will be silver in the light, and will fade to blue as shadow passes over it. It is how the Amarithium's tone appears after being forged. The metal is light enough to allow for flight, and strong enough to withstand it"

Alane's eyes shine with the light only a Seraph could ever have, for only a Seraph could know the joys of flying on such wings.

Despite this attempt to help Alane, Alec does not realize that his actions will cause the vanity of the Seraphs to return to Alane.

Nor does he know that once Alane has wings, she will be obligated, as all Seraph are, to leave him.

For having wings is the ultimate Oath for a Seraph, an Oath of guardianship that denies the Seraph the ability to accept their own happiness. Alane would be forced to leave Alec, to go on the path of the Oath once again to help others find that what she would be giving up,

Alec, ignorant of the ways of a Seraph, continues on with the making of the wings.

In his attempt to free Alane, he would bind her into the ultimate sacrifice once again.
