Rain

The storm rattles the roof of the lighthouse, giving the air a heavy, thick feeling with every boom of thunder and a exciting, suspenseful jolt with every crash of lightning. A young man, his name Alec, leans against one of the large windows, looking out to the churning sea.

Every few seconds the lighthouse's glow would rotate towards him, bathing him in brilliantly bright light, before turning away and drenching him in darkness.

During one of these darkened times, lightning flashes from the angry clouds, quickly followed by a particularly loud, resounding thunder crash so strong and resounding is seemed as if the heavens themselves had cracked open. In the brief flash lighting the chaotic ocean waves, Alec notices what appears to be a figure falling down into the sea.

For a moment, Alec stands there, transfixed by the sight of the falling figure, a nano-second seeming to last hours. His eyes follow her path all the way down in brief flashes  until she hits the rolling waves, water springing up into the air as another flash of lightning catches on the scene once more.

Where she came from was unknown to Alec, but he does not waste any time considering.

Alec jumps back from the window, sprinting down the stairs and out into the heavy rain.

Drenched and fighting his way against the wind, Alec comes to a stop at the shore line of jagged rocks, his eyes frantically scanning the water's edge.

For a moment, there is no sign of the women and he begins to lose hope. Then, a particularly violent wave throws a person to shore, just barely clearing the larger rocks and coming to a rest on the fine, crushed stone that made the beach.

His struggle continues against the wind and rain, Alec makes his way over to her; he was sure it was a woman now. His eyes stinging with the force of the storm, he slides his arms under her unconscious form, carrying her as best as he could through the battering wind and rain.
