"It's so good to finally see you," Dan exclaimed, pulling away from the hug and looking directly into Phil's eyes.

They were misty blue; clouded over like the sea at dawn. Mysterious, even, Dan thought to himself before pulling his gaze away. He didn't want Phil to freak out or anything.

"You're so cute in real life," Phil stated as Dan felt his cheeks heat up furiously, "Not that you weren't on Skype, of course. You're adorable."

"Thanks," Dan mumbled, "Also, do you wanna go to a coffee shop nearby? We can talk and stuff"

Phil nodded and they promptly left the train station. It was only a short walk down a nearby street lined with grey apartments, flowers under the windows blowing in the wind.

Although Dan had been nervous about conversation, it flowed fine. Funnily enough, everything seemed similar to Skype. It didn't feel like they'd been internet friends at all, which Dan wasn't sure was a good or bad things. In the end, it didn't matter, they were finally united.

Before they knew it they had reached the shop and Dan pushed the door open, gesturing for Phil to go in front of him. Phil grinned and poked his tongue out slightly, making Dan smile.

Phil had a contagious smile.

The shop was definitely cozy - a houseplant by the door and another by the a table, music playing in the background on a record player that Dan identified as Oh Wonder. A few paintings were hung on the wall, making the light wood floor and white walls seem more colourful than they were, one or two slightly lopsided. The faint smell of coffee was almost calming amongst the friendly chatter of the customers.

"I'll order if you get a table?" Dan asked, "Also, what would you like?"

"Yeah, I'll do that - can I have a caramel macchiato?" he asked, beaming up at Dan as he sat down on a nearby sofa.

"Of course!" Dan responded, approaching the counter.

When the drinks were ready, Dan brought them over to see Phil playing games on his phone. His eyebrows were furrowed with concentration, mesmerised by the screen. Obviously, he hadn't noticed that Dan was back, and so Dan put the drinks down and crept up behind Phil.

"Boo!"

Phil jumped, immediately darting his gaze up to Dan, frowning slightly as 'GAME OVER' flashed on his phone screen.

"You made me die!! I hate you," Phil remarked at Dan who had returned to the sofa next to him, giggling.

"The drinks were here, you didn't notice!" Dan explained and Phil blushed.

"You could have just said something instead of trying to scare me, you know" he retorted.

Dan shrugged, breaking out into a smile and picking up his drink. It was a freezing cold day and so the warmth from the cup was highly appreciated - it made him feel a bit less like a block of ice.

He turned to look over at Phil, who was also having a drink. As soon as he put it down, Dan burst into a fit of giggles.

"What? Dan, what is it??" Phil asked, tilting his head slightly like a confused puppy, his fringe falling over his eyes.

"Y-you-," Dan started, trying to say something through laughter, gasping for air, "you-u have a f-foamy moustache!"

Phil laughed too, wiping it away with the back of his hand. "Gone?" he asked Dan, who nodded, still trying to muffle his giggles.

Dan's laughter trailed off slowly and they were silent for a moment as somebody changed the record changed to FourFiveSeconds.

"KANYE!", Dan exclaimed obnoxiously loudly, making a few people turn around to look at him.

They finished their drinks, discussing what they were going to do throughout the week together. Phil hadn't bought a return ticket, so he was free to leave whenever, as long as he gave his parents notice.

"I'll pay," Phil offered, causing Dan to stand up.

"No, you're my guest. You stay there, Lester."

He poked his tongue out and laughed at the nickname, feeling his cheeks heat up for about the hundredth time in the hour.

Why did Dan have this effect on him?

Phil waved at the server before leaving the shop. It was a really nice place, he was thankful Dan brought him.

"Thank you, Dan"

"No problem, Philly."

They walked in silence, watching the surroundings. It was only early afternoon, so they had a lot of time in the day left together.

"It's so cold, Phil" Dan said, pouting slightly.

Phil wrapped his arm around the boy, before taking it away and taking off his own jacket, placing it on Dan's shoulders.

Dan giggled, leaning in towards Phil's shoulder. He rubbed Dan's back, taking a moment just to admire him.

His nose was a dusty pink because of the cold and he was rubbing his hands together, blowing on them occasionally.

Phil giggled, looking down at the other boy. Dan was everything he ever wanted as a friend, and he was eternally grateful to have him with him at this moment. What did he do to deserve Dan Howell?
