Dealing

A week has passed since I found out I'm pregnant. Surprisingly, it was me that was having a hard time accepting this, not Jake. All he talked about was the baby. He couldn't wait until he got to see the baby and listen to its heart beat.

I was having mixed feelings about the baby. Don't get me wrong, I want the baby, but I think we're too young to be parents. There's nothing we could do about it now, but I just wish it hadn't happened so soon.

We decided to stay at the lake house and not leave. We both loved being here, and it would be the frist time our child was here. After the baby came, we agreed to continue our tradition.

We were running low on food so Cassie, Minnie, and I decided to take a trip to the grocery store and let the guys at the house. I needed some girl time anyway, even if was just an hour or two.

"How are you holding up?" Cassie asked as we walked up the parking lot.

"I'm doing okay." I told her.

"Jake took it pretty well." Minnie said.

"Yeah, he did." Cassie agreed.

"I know. He wasn't mad at all."

"Did you expect him to be?" Minnie asked.

"Yeah. I mean, we're a little young to be parents."

"Emmie, he's totally in love with you." Cassie told me. "There's no way he could be mad at you for anything. Especially this." She gestured to my stomach.

"I know, and I love his so much too."

"You're not mad at him?" Minnie asked.

"Why would I be?"

"He's the reason your pregnant."

"I don't believe that. It was a decision made by both of us. I can't-and I don't want to- blame him for impregnating me."

We each grabbed a cart and started off down the dairy isle. I grabbed a gallon of milk, slices of cheddar cheese, and some cream cheese.

"Are you craving anything?" Cassie asked me.

"Not exactly. I've wanted cream cheese a lot though."

They laughed. We moved to the fresh produce isle. I bagged apples, onions, bananas, plums, and celery. Jake loved fruit and veggies.

two hours later, we were finally done with the food paid for and loaded in the back of the car.

"After we take the food back to the house, we should drive to the mall." Minnie suggested.

Just what I needed, retail therapy. "Good idea." I agreed. Cassie nodded her head.

At the house, the guys were waiting in the parking lot for us. When I got out of the car, Jake pulled me into his arms. I hugged him back, knowing I'd been a little distant lately.

'We're going to the mall in a bit." Minnie announced.

"There's that party tonight." Jake said when he pulled away. 'Do you guys still want to go to that?"

"Of course." Cassie said. "That's why we need to go shopping."

Jake chuckled. "Are you up for this?"

I smiled up at him. "It's shopping. I love shopping. Of course I'm up for it."

He smiled and pressed his lips to mine. His hand moved down to my stomach. "Can we talk later?"

I pulled away. "About what?"

"The baby."

I half smiled. "Of course."

With the help of the guys, we had the food unpacked and were on the road again in fifteen minutes. It was a ten minute drive to the mall, which was good because we'd probably spend three hours there. I'm glad I wore comfortable shoes.

We spent an hour in one store because they were having a huge sale. I got a lot of really cute dresses, skirts, and shirts for later in the pregnancy. After I paid for everything, we ventured out to the other stores in the mall. Minnie dragged us both into Victoria's secret. I wasn't a big fan of their stuff.

Minnie was focused on a wall full of lacy lingerie. She was looking at a black lacy thing with red trim. Bathing suits had more coverage than that thing.

"Em, you should get this." She told me.

"You're crazy. Why in the world would I need that?" I asked her.

"Just because your pregnant doesn't mean you can't have fun in the bedroom."

"I know that."

"Have you even let Jake touch you since you found out you were pregnant?"

"Well...no."

She handed me the skimpy black outfit. "Then get it."

I sighed and looked at the tag. The price actually wasn't that bad. "I could use some night gowns for later in the pregnancy." I allowed.

"So, get that and some night gowns. They're having a buy on get one sale." Cassie told me.

I ended up buying the skimpy outfit and five other nightgowns. Surprisingly, I wasn't broke when I walked out of the store.

"Let's go to The Children's Place." Cassie suggested. "It's never too early to start baby shopping."

I nodded and we walked over to the colorful store. As soon as we walked in, Cassie ran over to the racks of newborn clothes. She pulled a pink frilly one-piece outfit with a tutu.

"This is so adorable." she practically cooed. "You have to get it! It's on sale!"

"Cassie, I don't know the sex of the baby yet." I objected.

"So?"

"This isn't going to be your only kid, Em." Minnie agreed.

I sighed and took the one-piece from her. She clapped happily.

Sorry this is so short but it's just a filler chapter. The next one will be a lot better..I pinky promise..and I never break pinky promises..:)
