"Congratulations to the class of 2013!" Principle Hemingway said ecstatically, ending the ceremony.

I stood up, along with the other seniors, and we threw our caps into the air. Joy grew in the pit of my stomach. I was finally free! I no longer had to attend highschool!

A set of strong arms wrapped around my waist, picking me up and twirling me around while laughing softly in my ear. when he set me down I turned and met his lips. It was a gentle kiss, not like our usual ones. I pulled away and smiled up at him. He returned the smile and pulled me into his arms for a bear hug. I wrapped my arms around his neck and squeezed him tightly.

Jake was at least a foot taller than me. I was 5'4 and he had to be near 6'5. He was a football player, so it was a good thing. He was always muscular, even before playing football. His tan skin made his baby blue eyes look like they were glowing. His dark hair helped too.

I was pretty ordinary. Chest length brown hair, slim build, and blue eyes. Jake disagreed with me every time I told him that I was utterly ordinary.

"Are you parents taking us out to eat?" Jake asked me, pulling me out of my daze.

"Um...no. They're going to a casino to celebrate with some friends. They're leaving money at home for us to order food, though."

"So, we're going to be alone? Like, with no adult supervision?"

"Yeah. Why?"

He didn't answer, just smiled widely.

"What?" I asked. Not knowing what he was thinking drove me nuts.

"You'll see when we get home." he winked.

I crossed my arms over my chest and pouted.

"Nice try. Those puppy dog eyes aren't going to work on me."

I gave up trying to get it out of him and looked around for our friends instead. Once I saw them I waved them over. They walked quickly over to us. Cassie pulled me in for a tight hug. I hugged her back with equal enthusiasm.

"I can't believe we're out of highschool." She said when she pulled away.

"We're not out yet." Jake said. "We're still in the auditorium."

I laughed and Cassie smacked his arm. He gave her a fake hurt look and rubbed his arm where she hit him. Cassie's boyfriend, Marcus, walked up behind her and wrapped him arms around her stomach.

"Are we still on for that sleepover?" he asked Jake.

"Sorry, man. Tonight it's just me and the love of my life." he told him. He wrapped both of his arms around me and pulled me against his chest. I smiled and rested my head over his heart.

"You two should be heading home, then." Cassie said.

"You're lucky, bro. You share a house with Emily. I'd give anything to share a house with Cassie." he said, nuzzling his face in her shoulder. She giggled and kissed his cheek.

"Are you ready to go?" Jake asked me.

"Yeah."

I said goodbye to Cassie. I'd see her next monday. We're all going to Jake's uncle's lake house for a three week getaway with my cousins.

We were just shy of making it out of the building when Stephenie Wood, Jake's ex-girlfriend, walked in front of us. She smiled warmly up at Jake.

"Are you coming to my party, Jakey?" she asked him, her voice low as if she was talking to only him.
