(firework by canyon city)
somewhere,
deep down
inside me,
i knew
that i still loved you.
i suppose you could say
that hank
was an escape,
a distraction.
a very
attractive
distraction,
but a
distraction
nonetheless.
he
helped,
in ways
that he would
never know
or
understand.
his company,
to me,
was a form
of healing
my aching heart.
and let me
tell you,
daisy.
his form of healing
was like
hydrogen peroxide.
although
it stung at times,
it healed the wounds
in the end.
the reason why it stung
was because
my feelings for you
were still present.
having hank with me
was helping me
let go
of the love
i once felt
towards you.
