"Oh Liz, you don't have to be shy. We won't bite. But, she might." She said, gesturing to some girl behind me. I turned around and noticed a girl laughing really loud. And, it was high and shrill. Annoying. It seemed like a bunch of girls were around her. I mentally shook my head, typical popular girl.

She had long light brown hair. Thanks to my enhanced mmmm eyesight, I could see that she had sandy brown eyes. They would be beautiful, if she didn't have all that make-up drawn on her face.

I turned back around and faced Martha, "Who is she?" I asked, when I already knew what was gonna come.

"She's Cindy Rivers. She's like the queen bee here. She's the most hated and loved person here. She thinks she owns this school. She doesn't, but she's close. Her dad has connections. Throughout middle school, she use to torture me. And, call me a nerd. People started to follow, and do the same thing. And now, in high school I'm still classified as the nerd." Martha sounded bitter at the end of her monologue. I rolled my eyes, typical popular person's insult. Nerd. So original.

"Well, I'm sure my sister will protect you. She may be shy, but she has a backbone thicker than a brick or something that's thick. She's very protective." I bit back a rude remark and smiled at Martha. She smiled back,

"Thank you so much. I'm glad I now have you guys as my friends." I found myself giving her a real half-smile. Martha is a nice human, so I guess she's cool. But, this Cindy character. I have a feeling, we won't be the best of friends.

"No problem." I found myself saying. After that lunch was pretty okay. Martha was telling Thomas about her dog. Rex. Carly kept trying to pull me into conversation, but I gave her one worded answers. She finally gave up, and I ate my lunch in peace.

I sniffed the air, and felt my eye grow. The vamp is here. I looked over at Thomas to see that he noticed too. I turned around and locked eyes with a pair of bright green ones. He smirked. I quickly turned to Martha,

"Hey, who is that guy over there?" I asked discreetly gesturing towards the vamp. Martha's eyes grew,

"Oh, that's Ashton Smith. He's the schools badboy. He gets in fights, a lot. It's like, his thing. I even heard that he got in a fight this morning." I nodded my head, of course he was the schools badboy. After that I ate lunch thinking about one vamp.

I was walking towards my locker. Even though I could carry all my books, and feel like I'm carrying a feather, I didn't want to look suspicious. I should get use to putting crap in a locker.

I heard footsteps behind me, and waved it off. Probably some human passing by. I stepped in front of my locker, and did the lock the same way Martha taught me. 3-7-11. Pretty easy combination number to remember, even if I was a vampire.

"So, you're new here?" I turned around to see Collin standing behind me. I turned back around considering the option of ignoring him. That smirk on his face seemed too cocky.

"What makes you say that? Was it the fact that I'm here two months after school started. Or, is it the fact that I just look confused?" He chuckled and walked closer to me. I felt his body heat as he leaned on the locker next to mine,

"I see you have a smart mouth, I like that." I rolled my eyes,

"Whatever." I started to ignore him, but he was standing there. Staring at me. I turned and gave him a look,

"Please stop looking. It's creeping me out." He smiled, but didn't stop staring,

"Sorry, you're just...fascinating. That's all." Fascinating? What am I an animal? " No one has ever seen anyone come out of that house. But, I saw you and your brother. No one even knew people actually lived in there." I shrugged, trying to seem casual,

"Yeah, well we don't usually socialize with people, who call are house 'the haunted house'. Actually, we don't socialize with people. Period." Collin continued to stare at me.

"And, you decide to socialize now?" He questioned. I shrugged,

"Sure, why not?" Collin seemed confused. He was about to answer when suddenly, he was pushed. Not too lightly. Collin turned to glare at said person, who just so happen to be Ashton. He frowned at Collin and then smiled at me,

"Ashton Smith at your service. I would like to show you around, if that's okay with you." I knew he wanted to talk about the vampire thing. I opened my mouth to decline his offer, when suddenly Collin spoke,

"Thats not okay. See, I just asked my friend here, if I could show her around and she said yes. Right?" I frowned,

"No, that's not right. Because I was already showered around. So, that's a no to both of you." Ashton frowned at Collin, and then walked closer to me. I frowned but bit back a rude remark.

"Well, how about we just go somewhere. Alone." I glared at him, and he seemed amused.

"How about no." I said frowning at him. He stepped closer, making his back face Collin. He extended his fangs, "I insist."

"Thomas." I quietly whispered. I knew Collin didn't hear it, but Ashton did. He smirked at me. Suddenly, we heard loud footsteps coming down the hallway. I turned around to see Thomas, who looked angry. He pushed Ashton,

"Why are you near my sister, boy." Thomas said with venom in his voice. I stepped away, and Collin stepped beside me. Ashton smirked at my brother,

"Why? Are you afraid that I'm gonna take her, or something." He laughed, and Thomas continued to glare at him, "That's silly. Why would I do that?" Thomas stepped closer to him,

"I don't want my sister, hanging out with anyone like you. If I see you near my sister again, I will kick your ass." My eyes were wide. Ashton glared at him, becoming serious.

"I can hang out with whoever I want. And, I won't be told what to do. By some guy I don't even know. Heck, I wouldn't let you tell me what to do if I knew you. So, why don't you back away, before you do something you regret." Collin turned to me,

"You should break those two up. Before another fight happens." I quickly walked over to the two. I stood In front of my brother,

"You two are acting like a couple of idiots. You don't even know each other so break it up. Now." With one last glare directed to Thomas, Ashton walked away. But, not before he whispered, "This isn't over."

Collin, who was completely oblivious to everything walked over, "Hey, I'm Collin. You guys are in my first three classes. Uh, Beth and Tom, right?" I wanted to slap Martha for starting this trend. My name is Elizabeth. Not Liz or Beth. Elizabeth.

"Yeah." My brother answered, noticing that I was off in Elizabeth's world. Collin nodded,

"Yeah Ashton has a problem with everyone. So, just ignore him." Thomas nodded, and Collin over at me, "So, I guess I'll see you guys later?" Thomas agreed but Collin continued to stare. I felt something fluttering in my stomach, but I held his stare. He started to walk off, but I felt myself staring after him.

Thomas turned and started to smirk. I quickly glared at him, "Don't you even dare say it." He held up his hands in surrender. I started to walk away when I heard my brother whisper,

"It seems that a little vamp has a crush." I turned around and gave him the finger. Yes, I know what that is. I don't live under a rock,

"In your dreams." He rolled his eyes, and we walked to our next period.
