It is often astonishing how a single moment can change in your entire being. How one word can touch your soul and set your whole body on fire. It is precisely not understandable the way one intangible emotion can shake your entire existence.

'Fall in love' she said, my mother just before she closed her eyes,

'Fall for an angel, fall for that girl my darling who will love you as much as I did.'

She said 'did'...as if she knew she was never waking up, she said 'did' as if she knew that would be the last time she would lay her beautiful grey eyes on my face, she said 'did' as if she knew that those words would be her last. She said 'did' as she slept there crushing what little life she had left behind with her own bare hands.

And I watched her lay down perfectly on that silk sheet that she adored with her perfect black hair messed up like I saw her every other day, peacefully smiling in her sleep.

And yet I could never understand her. Of all of the things that she chose to hide from me and of all the experiences that she chose to protect me from, I have never been able to understand her.

That was what she told me last, 'fall in love', something I deemed impossible, unfathomable, undesirable. And yet in that peak of a moment, making them worthy of being her last words, my darling mother wanted me to fall in love.

I couldnt question her. I dont have the qualifications to ...she used to say.

' You havent seen the world love..'

Thats what she always said. And at that moment I realized who was I to question her.

After all my mother, she always knew best.
