Chapter 14 - When The Sun Goes Down

I carried Maddie into the hotel all the way up to our room. I held her in one arm and pulled the covers back on the bed and laid her down gently. Then I took off her little white sandals and then covered her up.

"I'm going to take a nap with Maddie before Selena gets here because most likely me and her will be up and I haven't sleep much." I said as mom and dad was sitting on the couch watching tv.

"Alright sweetheart." Daddy said and I slide the doors the separated the living room from the bedroom. I then walk to the bathroom and lock the door. I pulled out the blade from my back pocket and the voices started. I then started pulling the blade across both my wrist. I didn't go to deep or made to many cuts because I don't want know one to notice. I grab some toilet paper and put pressure on fresh cuts. The bleeding did stop and I threw away the toilet paper. I got some of my bracelets and put them on my wrist. I unlock the door and into the bedroom.

I walk over on the other side of the bed and crawled in beside Maddie. I turned on the TV and started watching a Lifetime Movie. I laid there with my right arm behind my head. Then Maddie turned over and threw her arm over my stomach and laid her head on my breast. I laid there and just rub my hand threw Maddie's dark black hair. I got tired from rubbing Maddie hair and feel asleep

"Demi!" somone yelled and I open my eyes instantly. It was Selena running over to me.

"Shh!" I said putting my finger over my lips.

Selena stop at the end of the bed. "Oops sorry." She whisper.

I slowly slid away from Maddie and let her sleep longer.

"Let's go in the living room." I said and slid the doors open to the living room. Then we walk over and sat on the couch.

"Where's mom and dad?" I ask.

"They went downstiars to the bar with Mom and dad." Selena said.

"Oh." I said as I sat down, "What's that?" I ask pointing at the bad wrap around her wrist.

"Oh, umm..." She said as she pulled off her wrist an open the bag. "I got us matching necklaces, I already got mine on, this is yours."

"Aww thanks." I said with a giggle. I laid my hand out and Selena started to slowly put it in my hand, but she stop.

"Umm, Dem." she said staring at the necklace so I thought.

I followed her eyes. She's just look at the neckl-no she saw the cuts on my wrist. I pulled my wrist back and put my hand over. I felt so ashamed, but how is she going to react I want to cry but I held the tears back and just look down in my lap.

"Demi...are..are you cutting yourself?" She said with her voice cracking as she stuttered.

I slowly look raised up my head and look at her in the eyes with tears forming in mine. Is she going to to judge me, leave me, tell everyone and ruin my career?

Selena's POV

I could tell she was broken by the way she was looking at me. How long has she been doing it? Should I ask?

"Yes." She said with her weak voice.

"Oh, Demi." I said and pulled her into a hug.

"I'm so sorry, Selena. I wanted to tell you what's been going on but I couldn't, I didn't know how." She said crying into my shoulder. I started to tear up. I had so many questions and I need to ask them, maybe it will help her just to talk about it.

I pulled back and ask "How long have you been doing this?" I whip a tear that was falling down my cheek and sniff.

She lick her lips and then sniff "I started on the day Trenton died."

Once she said that she started crying even harder, I cried with her. Trenton was my friend but him and Demi where something. That's been 2-3 years ago and I haven't notice at all.

She started to calm down but still crying. "Selena please don't tell nobody, please. This could ruin my career, my family will be ashamed and I just can't imagine how the and people would treat me."

"Here." I said as I started to put my arms around her neck and put the necklace on. "This is like a promise ring but a necklace also friend wise. I promise you not to tell nobody, but you have to stop doing this to yourself and if anything happens you'll talk to me first."

We both stop crying but our face was still wet from the tears and red from crying.

"I promise." Demi said and we pulled into hug. Demi wouldn't let go and I wasn't going to. She needed someone and i'm going to be that someone.

We heard the doors slid open and me and Demi let go. It was Maddie, her hair was a mess. She was rubbing her eye and ask "What's going on? Why are you guys crying?"

"Umm..." Demi hesitated and then grab the TV remote and then pointed to the TV, "This movie is really sad."

She came over and sat down between me and Demi. She look at Demi oddly and said sarcastically "The Lion King?"

I couldn't help but to laugh. "Yeah, poor Simba." I whine.

"I swear, I may be younger but man i'm mature then both of you." Maddie said and got off the couch.

"You can't even spell Mature." I said teasing Maddie.

"Yeah huh!" She said putting her hands on her hip, "M-A-T-U-R-E."

"Maybe she is mature than us." I said truthfully look at Demi and she laugh.

Demi's POV

The hotel room door open, it was our parents. Everyone came in and stand in front of the door. "I know it's late on some of us hasn't ate supper so...want to go to Chuck-E-Cheeses?" Dad ask the clap his hands. I'm like 14 and he wants to go there, but I knew why he said that. He said that because of Maddie. She scream and ran to daddy an he pick her up.

"Yeah!" She said excitingly.

"Heck yeah!" I said and high five Selena and we laugh.

"Let's go." Eddie said.

We left the room and left the hotel. We decided to carpool. We got in the car and headed to Chuck-E-Chesses. We walk in and paid for everything. We got our pizza an sat down. Mandy gave each of us 30 tokens each. We ate what we wanted, of course us kids barley eat just because we want to go play. Selena was play air-hockey we was laugh and having a good time. I realized I'm blessed with a best friend like her. I actually feel like someone is there for me, I just couldn't believe it took me this long to realize it.

We left around 8:30pm because they were starting to close. Daddy was carrying Maddie to the car and she already feel asleep on him. Selena and I got in the car. We were tired especially me. We drove back to the hotel. Selena and her family got in there car in the hotel parking lot and left. Daddy got Maddie out of the back and carried her all the way upstairs. I change into my PJs. I took my blade out of my back pocket and decided to throw it away, but I don't want mom and dad to aee it so I wrap it in toilet paper and threw it away. I wash my make up of and got in the bed with Maddie. Looks like mom change her into her PJs. I crawled and and put my back to Maddie. Mom and Dad was laying in the bed beside us.

"Goodnight sweetheart." Dad said. I knew he was looking at me even though it was dark.

"Goodnight." I responded, once I closed my eyes I was asleep.
