Level Of The Year II

"Alright levels, the first knockout round starts now!" RobTop's voice sounded over the speakers yet again.

"Must he use the speaker? He's gonna deafen me!" ToE 2 complained as he clutched his horns.

"You don't have ears. And even if you had ears, they wouldn't be on your horns." Deadlocked pointed out the obvious fact.

"Shut up," Clubstep shushed the two of them.

"Right, will all of you please head over to the Multi-purpose Hall for your tryouts!" Hearing that. the levels all filed towards the hall, while the three of them stayed back for a bit.

"Finally, some fresh air!" ToE 2 started rolling about the floor, much to the amusement of Clubstep and Deadlocked. "I was dying in there."

"Hey, you guys!" ToE 2 v2 hopped over with a huge grin on her face, almost trippng over ToE 2. "What are you doing?" she asked.

"Er, nothing," ToE 2 muttered as he got upright and scratched his right horn. His v2 turned towards Deadlocked and clutched his arms. "I didn't think you guys would come!"

"Um, er, why'd you come here then?" Deadlocked asked while directing his death glare at the two other demons. 

"I was accompanying your v2. Clubstep v2 is here as well." After the brief explanation she nudged Deadlocked with her right horn and gave him the look. "We can't be late. Come on!" She started moving towards the Multi-purpose Hall while dragging Deadlocked with her, who sighed and smiled for a bit, before turning back to look at Clubstep and ToE 2. They were too busy slapping the ground and laughing to notice his second death glare.

"I'll - Kill - You - Later," he mouthed at their silhouettes.

The four of them arrived at the hall just in time to catch RobTop's announcement. "The theme of this year is boss fights. Although this is not an absolute requirement to win, it is best that the Level of the Year incorporates some of the bossfight theme. Bossfight levels are representative of the newest 2.0 mechanics..."

The three official demons stopped listening at this point.

"I'll never win," Clubstep and ToE 2 sighed at the same time. "We don't even have boss fights built in us."

"True that," Deadlocked muttered. "Sirius or Extortion will win or something."

ToE 2 v2 silently gestured to pay attention. 

"...we are looking for original and creative levels for the Level of the Year..."

Deadlocked considered that for a while, before a grin appeared on his face. Following RobTop's instructions, all interested levels took a queue number and waited for their turn for a short speech. ToE 2 and Clubstep waited for Deadlocked's turn; he was the 26th in line.

"You can do it, Lock," ToE 2 v2 whispered to Deadlocked. He smiled and shrugged in reply.

Sirius had just finished speaking, and all the levels were clapping for him. He bowed and as he came down the stage, he shoved Deadlocked and sneered. "I'm gonna win, loser."

"We'll see." Deadlocked took one deep breath, two, then stepped up and took the microphone. "Good afternoon, Geometry Dash. It's me, Deadlocked, the twentieth official level. And today, I'm here to try for being the Level of the Year."

That was all he said, and  discussions began to pass between members of the audience. RobTop quietened them down. "Now, any questions from the floor?"

"I have one." Beast Slayer raised a hand. "Why do you think you should be Level of the Year?"

"I am the very first boss fight level, and all others after have been inspired by me." 

Everyone went silent as Deadlocked finished answering. It was the final truth, and no one could object. They simply stared at Deadlocked with mouths wide open as he headed back down the stage.

"That was sick!" Clubstep whispered. ToE 2 nodded in agreement. Deadlocked waved them off.

"Well...who's next?" RobTop looked at his list. No one stepped up, however, all accepting the fact that no level was more creative than Deadlocked.

"That was easy," Deadlocked looked kinda disappointed.

"It's fine I guess," ToE 2 v2 smiled again and followed him out of the hall.

"Wait! What's going on?!" Clubstep hurried after them.

"I'll kill you later," Deadlocked replied as he left with ToE 2 v2. "Wanna go somewhere, Theo?"
