They Got In

I slowly opened my eyes hearing footsteps sitting up from the bed before Mia came rushing in the guest room like she had saw a ghost.

"Someone is outside banging on the front door!" Mia whispered yelled with fear in her eyes, grabbing ahold of my shoulders not sure what to do.

My eyes widen and suddenly I felt wide awake. I got up as her hands dropped from my shoulders and searched the room for a weapon to defend ourselves from the intruder. After scanning all around the bedroom I found a wooden bat in the coner of the room. I turned around and saw Mia shaking with fear as the pounding stopped before the same thing came to our mind "They got in." Mia whispered, eyes looking like the were just about to pop out of her eye sockets.

I signaled her to keep quiet with my finger pressed against my trembling lips. I quietly yet quickly closed the bedroom door, making sure to lock it. I grabbed my phone off the nightstand and got ahold of Mia pulling her into the closet that held just enough space to contain us both.

"My phones dead, let me see yours." I whispered to Mia after trying to turn on my phone which led to a completely fail. She shook her head. "Its in my room." I cursed mentally, things couldn't get any worse.

"We'll wait. We'll be fine, i'm sure they'll leav-" and the suddenly I was stopped mid sentence as we both heard the bedroom door knob twist.

"Were gonna di-"

"Mia please be quite." I hushed her quickly not wanting to give away our hiding spot by putting my hand over her mouth as her tears came rushing down. Then after the door knob stop making noise, banging was heard from the otherside of the door. Whoever it was, they were trying to break down the door. I took my hand off of Mia's mouth, placing both hands on the bat as I gripped the bat firmly then we both heard the bedroom door slamed down onto the ground. I wasn't going to die without a fight so whoever is coming is going to have a hard time.

I took a deep breath trying to calm down as I prepared myself for the worst, the footstep came closer and closer to the closest. I stood up ready to swing the bat when the door was quickly swung opened. In a split second I closed my eyes and swung the bat as hard as I could.

Once the wooden bat hit a hard surface, a piercing groan was heard and the person fell to the ground. I turned around a grabbed a terrified Mia's arm pulling her out the closest, ready to take off without looking back when she pulled my arm to a sudden stop.

"Jason?"
