Chapter 13 - Guilt

It was a few days later after Nova become a part of the Team. Bart was spending a lot of time with her, I've noticed. Even finding excuses just to walk her to room so he can be with her. Honestly, I'm just waiting for him to ask her out, and if he doesn't do it soon, I'll be more than willing to give him a little push in the right direction.

At the moment, I was standing outside Wanda's door. I knock quickly, waiting for a respond.

The door opens, and I see her standing there. Her curly blonde hair brushing against her chin. Her dark blue eyes look down at me, and I've notice they don't seem so cold anymore.

"Hey, Wanda. Can I talk to you?" I ask.

She nods, "Come in." She opens the door and we walk into her room. She sits on the edge of her bed, looking up at me. I don't sit though, standing in front of her. I open my mouth to speak, but she beats me to it.

"I'm trying, Remy. I really am. I'm trying to fix my mistakes, and earn your trust back. If you really don't want me near you, just say it, and Mev and I will leave." She looks up at me, I see the pain she's trying to hide in her eyes. She feels guilty, that much is obvious. I wonder what Jaime said to her.

"No. Wanda, no. I want you to stay here. I want to be your friend. Whatever Jaime told you he said because he was scared of losing me. He'll get over it eventually, I promise. He'll trust you again someday, but you just need to keep trying. We've all made mistakes, but we are not our mistakes." I move and sit beside her on the bed. She leans her head forward to let her hair cover her face.

"He loves you, he really does." She whispers.

"I know." I say, thinking of his warm brown eyes. "If I was put in your situation, I would have done the exact same thing in a heartbeat. I couldn't bare losing him..." My throat thick with emotion.

She takes a deep breath. "Mev is my light. He loves me even with all the things I've done. I need him."

"I know. It's easy to see that he loves you." I tell her. I watch the corners of her lips pull into a smile.

That's when the knocking on the door makes us both jump. We both get up and walk over to open the door.

"Hey, Wanda. Oh, hey, Remy. We've got a mission." Bart tells us, surprised to see me here but recovering quickly.

"What's going on?" I ask.

"There's an apartment complex on fire here in Happy Harbor. Jaime is on his way right now." He says quickly.

"Where's Mev?" Wanda asks.

"I just found him in the training room, he'll meet us in a moment."

"Okay, let me get dressed then." Wanda says. I step out of her room, and she gives me a small smile. I return it and relief shines on her features before she closes the door.

"Hey, wait a minute." I ask, looking at Bart. "Isn't this going to be Nova's first mission?" 

Bart face turns into a wide grin, "Yeah! I can't wait to see her in action. I bet she'll be so crash! She even has her costume ready. I'm going to go tell her now!" He zips away and I laugh.

Yeah, Bart is falling hard for Nova.
