Chapter Fifteen - Approval

Start from the beginning

He had agreed for Riley and Jaymi to take me to lunch at Toujours l'amour.

I'd grown to love the cafe and was determined to see at least one couple become engaged before I was to leave.

As we walked, I was aware that most of the people that passed us, practically stopped to stare.
After all, there were three unbelievably gorgeous Vampires by my side, one of which held tightly onto my hand. I felt proud, proud that I was part of their group.
It was like being in high school, holding the heart throb football players hand as you walked alongside your gorgeous loyal cheerleader friends.
Naturally, I held my head up high as we entered the cafe.

We took a table towards the back of the restaurant, Jaymi and Riley sitting opposite me with Duke beside me as a familiar waiter approached us, notepad in hand as he stopped at the table, looking us over.

"What can I get you all this afternoon?" He asked, his accent thick like it had been when he had served Jaymi and I.

Once we had all ordered, we sat patiently and relaxed into conversation.

"So, I think its the right time to tell you both something" Riley started as he clasped his hands in front of himself

I chewed the inside of my cheek, knowing exactly what he was going to say.
So did Duke, who refrained a smile.

"We know" I burst open, smiling, saving him from embarrassing himself

"You know?" Riley asked as Jaymi looked in between us both

"We know" I signalled between Duke and I "I happened to see you both making out, and Duke isn't as stupid as he looks" I teased nudging him in the side with my elbow as he smiled crookedly

"Oh" Jaymi replied for Riley as they looked down, embarrassed.
If they had pumping blood, I was sure their cheeks would have been tomato red within seconds.

"I'm happy for you both" I smiled, easing up the tension

Riley and Jaymi both smiled and placed their hands together on the table.
I leaned back in my chair, letting my hand fall on Dukes thigh.

It wasn't until I felt Duke flinch beneath my fingers that I realised the innocent gesture.

It was a simple intimate movement, but it wasn't appropriate when Duke had almost impossible self control. I quickly moved my hand and returned it to my lap before Jaymi or Riley could notice.

Duke's mouth slowly turned upwards in one corner as he looked away

I had to contain my own smile, just as the waiter returned with our plates of meals

I had ordered what I had last time, as had Jaymi. Duke and Riley both ordered hearty meals full of meat and pastry.

"I love this place" I spoke through chewing

"I do too" Jaymi agreed as we looked around "Maybe one day we can all get engaged here" Jaymi smiled while she day dreamed

Riley seemed to smile as he dug into his meal, I had also noticed him not so subtly give Duke a quick glance

I suddenly hoped that I would witness Riley propose to Jaymi. Despite the small timeframe that they had begun dating, I secretly wished for it.

"What do you think we should do after this?" I asked as I ate

"Whatever you want" Duke replied

"I want to go to the markets, I heard they were selling paintings this week" Riley spoke up, putting down his fork and knife when he'd finished up his entire meal before anyone else
