Dear Diary: I Made 2 New Friends

Halmeoni wasn't kidding when she said we were going to leave early. It's 6 a.m and she says it's almost a 2 hour trip, yeah I know it's a long way but I didn't care. Hayangi will soon be with me and we'll get to play all day~

"Luna, take care of your grandmother okay?"

"Ne ~ I will Halabeoji!" I grinned.

He chuckled and ruffled my hair. "You're excited aren't you?"

"Ne! I can't wait to see all the people and get Hayangi! It'll be great~ Halabeoji why aren't you coming with us?" I asked.

"Ani. I have to stay here with the sheep, cow, horses and all the other animals. If I don't they'll be sad and all alone" he said.

"Aw. Okay, when I get back Hayangi and I will help you. He/She will be our new helper Halabeoji ~"

"Haha. I look forward to it Luna now run along before Halmeoni starts honking at you"

I giggled. "Okay, Bye Halabeoji ~ Saranghaeyo ~"

I hugged him before running to the car.

Yay! Finally!

"Put your seatbelt on Luna" Halmeoni said.

"Okay~" I smiled and put it on.

I always used to play in Halmeoni's car when I was little, I'd pretend to drive or act like I was a racer.

"Let's say a prayer to keep us safe from any harm"

"Uh okay" I nodded and closed my eyes. "Lord, keep Halmeoni and I safe from any danger that is on the way to the village or town...whatever it is. May your angels accompany us and protect us from any harm, in the name of Jesus we pray."

"Amen" We said.

She began to drive and I couldn't help but squeal in excitement.

"Halmeoni thank you again for doing this for me. I'm really excited! I can't wait to finally have Hayangi in my arms~"

"Hehe. I know you're excited honey, now that you're older Halabeoji and I decoded it was time to let you have a dog. You'll feed it, take it out to the bathroom and teach it how to behave, understand? You need to be responsible"

I nodded. "I promise I will"

"And another thing when you go out to play with your dog do not let it get near the forest. You're not allowed anywhere near it, I don't care if you're walking it... Just stay away. It's a very bad place" she said.

"But...Halmeoni, how do you know it's bad? Have you been in the forest?" I asked.

"It's forbidden for a reason, if I ever catch you even trying to go in there I will punish you and ground you. Understand?"

"Yes ma'am..."

I wanted to know why it was forbidden. Why can't she tell me? Is it supposed to be scary? Is there a monster? There can't possibly be a monster, that's silly. If there was a monster those kids wouldn't be playing, right?

"Halmeoni, is there something bad in the forest?" I asked. "I really want to know. If you tell me I promise to never ever ever speak of it again"

She sighed. "Luna, it's not a story to be telling a little girl"

"But I'm 11 now! Why can't you just tell me? I'm not stupid"

"I never said you were but I don't think now is the time to tell you okay?"

"Is there a monster?" I asked.
