Ariel's P.O.V.

I dial Cody's number, and he picks up immediately.
"Tell me you're okay," he says even before I can breathe in to say "hello".
"I'm fine. I'm sorry," I reply, and he lets out a sigh of relief. I hear loud chattering on his end and wonder where he is.
"Sorry about the noise," he says as if he read my mind. "I'm at breakfast, and everyone's loud as fuck."
"Who are you talking to?" I hear a voice ask.
"My girlfriend, now fuck off," Cody snaps before saying, "Sorry about that."
"No no, it's fine."
"I miss you," he says, and his voice is laced with pain.
"I miss you, too," I whisper, tears stinging my eyes.
"Please stay strong, okay? And you're perfect the way you are. Please love yourself," he begs.
"Hey Cody!"
"Leave me alone!" he snaps before sighing. "Sorry again."
"It's okay. And yeah, I'm trying."
"I love you so much, princess."
"I love you, too, Cody. You're my whole world."
"Then don't hurt me, okay? To think that you might be doing...it again..."
"I made you a promise, remember?"
"Yeah. I know, but I know you regret it," he says softly, and I don't say anything.
"Herbinko, get off your phone, lets go!" someone shouts on his end.
"Sorry, baby girl, I have to go. I'll text you, okay?"
"Yeah. Okay. I love you so much," I say sadly, my chest clenching.
"I love you so much, too."
