Cut Out Its Heart

©9/30/2007, Olan L. Smith

Cut out its heart!

Remove its pulse from the breast!

Then, troubled souls will rest.

People cackle and weep,

While hearing words

Born of bifurcated tongue.

Knowingly,

They observe

With discerning eyes.

A bloody–

Two-sided,

Fleshy–

Pump,

Beating messages

Hypocritical and duplicitous.

(A/N: Cut Out Its Heart is a poem I wrote in the '70's.  I think this is the first time I have published online)
