Training....Again?

Start from the beginning

" The corners they always ambush us at the corners."

" No they don't dumbass.

" Maybe its a time thing!"

" Has anybody kept track of a specific time they jumped us?"

"Nope."

" Damn."

I huffed and continued to drink my coffee. Honestly I just wanted to get this over with and go back to bed. " What Michael you have a better theory?" Keegan asked. I looked at him and narrowed my eyes. Who was his dad again? I thought. I knew it was one of Arch-Angels. "Well?" He sneered pushing his upper lip and nose up in disgust at me. I was a liability to the team and they all knew it. I rolled my eyes and looked down in to my paper coffee cup. Did I have an idea? Ya. Did I ever bother to share said idea? No, why bother the outcome would still be the same in the maze. Keegan stood up and stared down at me. " Your pathetic Michael. All you do anymore is sit here and mope. You act like your better than all of us and you don't give a shit about any body but yourself," He turned to Joey," and you. He's your brother yet he'd readily throw you under the bus and still you stick behind him trying to be his friend." Joey looked down at his plate and push a few remaining scrambled eggs around with his fork. Ever since we left John and them that night he's been quiet and I've been pushing him away. I suddenly felt bad for being so mean to Joey. We were brothers after all. It wasn't his fault we were stuck here. " It's a trick." I said.

"What?" Keegan asked. I stood up and walked over to the map of the maze. For a brief moment I flashed back to the night we hunted that vampire. I shook the thought from my head and pointed out my plan. "It's simple you can usually find the center and exit of a maze by following the right side wall. If we split up into two groups, one being a decoy, and they go left like we usually do at the entrance then the other group goes right they can get to the center and get the.. whatever it is.. and get back to the decoy group. Game over." I walked over and sat back down. " That could work." Zach said. Keegan looked at the maze," but... you... I... I suppose it could." Every body looked around at each other and at me. Finally some older asian kid spoke up, " so is that the plan?" They all nodded. " Okay Michael. Lead on..."

************************************************************************

Despite my protests the group decided since I came up the plan I should lead it. Why couldn't I keep my mouth shut? "Okay, " I sighed," Zach pick about twenty of the strongest people to go with you. The rest of you will come with me to the center. "Okay, Alex, Keegan, Damien, Jeff, Chrissy, Tonya..." Zach rattled off the names as we stood there. When they heard their names called they went over to stand behind Zach.

In the end I had seven people left with me. Joey, Katie, Preston, Andrew, Damon, Harmony, and Sam. Zach gave me a nod which I returned and then he and the decoy group pushed in to the maze. I turned to my group and said, " Wings in mouths closed. We have to be as quiet and stealthy as possible." I walked in to the maze and put my hand on the right wall. The maze was a stone structure. The floor of the maze was several feet wide and as tall as a ten story buiding. Wide enough for our entire group to walk side by side with our wings fullys extended. We didn't though, obviously.

I led the group down the corridor and peak cautiously around the corner. Nothing. I turn the corner. We'd been walking for about an hour and I was starting to second guess my plan. What if we get jumped and the other groups just aimlessly wondering around the maze. As if summoned by my thoughts I heard a startled cry then sounds of fighting. I picked up the pace to a run. They were busy fighting the decoy group so stealth wasn't needed anymore. We turned several more corners when some one behind me yelped. I turned to see Harmony fighting an angel. The angel was on top of her throwing soft punches. Girls always get the soft punches. The rest of the group stood there shocked. So much for a stealthy unintterupted run.
