When I woke up, I was on the classroom floor. I clutched my head as I slowly stood to my feet. It only took seconds to realize what was happening. I looked outside, seeing that it was still dark. Maybe I still have time. I take off as fast as I can towards the dance. My friends are no where to be found. My heart is racing by this point. I finally spot Jeremy walking out into the hallway. I get to him and am relieved to find Elena, Bonnie, Damon, and Stefan.

"Um guys, Klaus is here," I announce right before Jeremy is punched by one of the other students. The brothers break off the fight before Damon is shot with a crossbow.

"Let me guess. Klaus says hi?" Damon groans before pulling the stake out of his shoulder. He and Stefan quickly attack, but as Damon readies to kill the boy, Stefan stops him.

"No no no no no. Don't kill him. He's compelled," he orders. "This is just a distraction. Maddie go find Elena and Bonnie. We got this. Go."

I nod my head before speeding off down the hallway. I can hear the familiar voice and I easily follow behind them quietly.

"Okay, I'll give you a little hint. I'm not Alaric."

"Klaus!" Elena says in fear.

"Surprise!" He grins evilly.

He approaches them, and they stay frozen in place. They both look petrified, and I can feel myself freaking out as well. He was going to kill them if I didn't do something. I sped over to him, lunging onto him.

"Surprise!" I mimicked him as I attacked. He somehow managed to push me off of him, sending me flying back to Bonnie.

"Oh no. No, it's not possible," Elena cringed.

"Oh relax, Elena. I'm not here to hurt you. You're not on my hit list tonight," he scans his eyes over the three of us, stopping at Bonnie. "But you are."

He starts running towards Bonnie, but she easily throws him back into a wall. He stands up, acting as if he didn't feel a thing.

"Now, did I mention that I knew a witch? You're gonna have to hit me a lot harder than that," he smirked as he reproached. She once again sent him crashing into a trophy case. He stood up yet again, laughing maniacally. "By all means, fire away. If you kill this body, I'll just get a new one. Maybe Jeremy?"

Bonnie turned towards us and pleaded, "Go! Run! Run!" Elena took off without a second glance, but I stayed put. "Maddie."

"No, Bonnie. I'm not leaving you," I refuse before speeding her off in the opposite direction. She quickly shuts the doors with her powers. "Bonnie, can you kill him?"

"The protection spell is too strong. He knows that I have my powers, and that's why he wants to kill me. If I kill Alaric, he'll just possess someone else. I don't know what to do."

"No, Klaus does not get to win tonight," I sneer as tears fall down my face. "I'm not going to lose you too, Bonnie. Not to him. It's time for him to pay."

"I may have an idea, but we've gotta make it look believable," she whispers. She leans closer and tells me her plan, and I can't help but feel excited about it.

"Took you long enough. Now, do you wish to do this the easy way or the hard way?" He asked as he sat in a seat in the cafeteria. He juggled a knife in between two of his fingers. Bonnie effortlessly broke his hand with her magic, sending the knife clashing to the floor. He popped his hand back into place, picking up the knife again. "The hard way. Got it."

She moved her hands, causing his shoulder to break. He let out a noise of discomfort before slowly picking himself up. "You'd kill your favorite History teacher?"

"It's what Alaric would've wanted, but he would've wanted you to suffer first," Bonnie said boldly. Blood began pouring from her nose, and I got a bad feeling in my stomach.

"Bonnie, your nose," I said with wide eyes.

"Maddie, you should leave now."

"I'm not leaving you, Bonnie! This is what he wants! He wants you to overdo your magic!"

"I can take him," she insisted.

"No you can't," I disagreed frantically. "I'm not afraid. I can do this."

Now it was my turn. I vamped over, leaping onto his back. I drug my teeth deep into the skin, ignoring the burning of the vervain. Klaus found the knife, jabbing it deep into my arm. I let him go in surprise, falling backwards onto the floor. I watched as the wound healed on Alaric's body. He smirked at me.

"Two against one? That doesn't seem very fair."

"Why are you here?"

"To take that of which belongs to me."

I began to feel dizzy, glancing down at the knife. I pulled it out, throwing it across the room. The vervain that entered my system was beginning to take effect. I was slowly losing consciousness. I looked back up at the scene in front of me in horror. Papers are flying everywhere. The lights are flickering on and off while Klaus is on the floor with a broken leg. Blood is gushing from Bonnie's nose. Elena and Stefan are desperately attacking the doors, but they seem to be spelled shut.

Klaus begins to stand to his feet yet again, and I look back at Bonnie. She's getting weaker by the second. Her eyes meet mine one last time, and she offers a weak smile before collapsing onto the floor.

"No, Bonnie!" I scream before everything began to spin again. I glance up to see Klaus standing over me with a grin on his face.

"Time to go, love."
