In a way, I couldn't help but think of Camila. And perhaps that maybe, just maybe, that was something she needed to do too.

"So basically, from what you told me, you want me to defend you against one of the most powerful business' on Wall Street?"

"Yes."

"Well, if one things for sure, Carmen Ramirez Gurrerro Cabello de la Piedad does not back down from a case." She stood up, and stook her hand out, "Consider the law on your side."

I stifled a chuckle before I turned to look at my girlfriend and said, "I see where you get your spunk from." before I turned back and shook her hand.

"I know this case may be a little difficult. Scratch that, one of the biggest cases I'll ever take. But, I have faith. And you deserve Justice Lauren and I promise you that I will use every fiber in my body to make sure of that!" She confidently smiled.

I couldn't help but smile back, "Thank you."

Camila was so excited that she sprung up and hugged her aunt. She kissed her cheeks appreciatively.

I felt good about it. Maybe I did have a chance. A chance to take my life back. Once and for all.

When we got home, Camila kissed me at my door step. Just as she was going to leave, the door opened.

"Lauren? I thought I heard you out here." My mom said.

I sighed, "Yeah, it's just us."

"Your father wants us to have dinner. Camila included."

I rolled my eyes, "Well, she's busy."

She frowned before she met my eyes, "I think you're both going to want to hear what he has to say."

I looked at Camila uncertainly.

She squeezed my hand and smiled, "It's okay. Let's just see what he says."

"You don't have to do this."

"I want too." She assured me.

I nodded and we then
followed my mom inside. The second I walked into the dinning room, I swear my eyes rolled into another dimension when they landed on my father and Cara having a casual conversation.

"Lauren." He smiled, "Cara and I were just talking about you."

I cringed.

"Sit down. Dinner is set."

I pulled Camila aside and whispered, "You don't have to be here."

"It's okay." She assured me.

"Are you sure?"

"Yeah, if she goes out of line, don't worry. You got muscle behind you." She winked.

I smiled at her dorky attempt to make me feel better before I gave in.

We then sat down and served ourselves some food. I hated being there. Every second of it. And the awkward silence didn't make it better. He wanted to say something. And he knew that everyone was waiting for him too. But he kept everyone in suspense because he's a jackass like that. It came to a point during the dinner when I felt inclined to pick up after myself because I had already finished eating. But before I could even think of a way to get my girlfriend and I out of this, my father cleared his throat.
