Crimson Dreams

She stood by the river
waiting for something, someone
a part to come unstuck
a small feeling of yesterday
trace back the footprints in the sand.

Melancholy madness
on the storm that still rages on
don't stand to close to the water now
It will only drown out your soul.

Between the Devil and the deep blue sea
Is there any hope
cry salty tears at your fathers grave
for all that you have lost now.

Walk amongst the shadows
the darkness won't let you shine
he comes to you with crimson dreams
tied up in pretty gold string.

He knows your name
he knows your crime
but do you dare look inside
will you let the monster out
the one you guard oh so well.

****

You know his name
you see his face
but will you dare to kiss him
hold onto your sanity
on the Devils back.

Take out your rage, lay it at his feet
have the courage to say I love you
let him bring you lustful dreams
of wanton maids and handsome men.

He will bring you crimson dreams
tied in pretty gold string
will you scream as he kisses your mouth
or will you let him inside your soul.
