Hiccup's POV

Groaning inside, I took the dagger from the weapons rack (Is that what's its called?). If you're wondering what's going on, I'll cut you some slack and give you the short story. I shoot and later befriended Toothless, where I learnt tricks. I used them in dragon training and became the best and got chosen to kill the Monstrous Nightmare, which is where I am now. I'm going to train it in front of the village and try to convince them that dragons are not just vile creatures, but can be trained and trusted. Sighing, I braced myself for what was going to come.

???'s POV

I heard the cheering coming from outside this cage. It means the victor has entered. If you're wondering who I am, I am Eyia, half-dragon-half-human, probably future Alpha. I'm going to try and change the view of the people of Berk. No fighting, dodging only. Well, that's my plan at least. "Nightmare, remember the plan stay inside and come out only when you hear me roar." He nodded just as the door opened. I saw a young boy standing there. He had the same stunning green eyes of my mother. I felt a connection to him. I became curious, one of my few weaknesses. I shook it off as the door had opened fully.

Hiccup's POV

The door opened to its fullest and everyone, including me, gasped. Instead of just one Monstrous Nightmare, there were two Monstrous Nightmare. Great, even harder. However, instead of attacking, the red one stayed inside while the brown one slowly edged out and closed the door. Wait, WHAT?! It just stayed there and waited and waited and waited. After none of us made a move, it started to move towards me slowly. I backed up. It went back to its original position and stared me straight in the eye. Around me, I heard people saying 'Why isn't Hiccup attacking?' and 'Why are they still?'. Well, you get the idea. Instead of listening to them, I was focused on... her eyes. Wait, how do I know its a she? Maybe instinct? They were filled with concern, care and... something making me want to go closer and train it instead of killing it. Well, I put my shield and dagger down, making everyone curious and slightly angry. Her eyes were brighter, like she was smiling.

I reached to take off my helmet but she growled. OK, don't do that. I continued walking closer and she also came closer. I saw dad moving anxiously in his seat. I ignored it and we continued to move closer. When we got close enough, but not too close for them to get too worried about, I stretched my hand forward. Everyone gasp again and started saying things like 'What is he doing?', 'His going to get himself killed' and stuff like that. Dad decided that this was a good time to interrupt and said, "Stop the fight." "No Dad, please wait. You all need to see this. They aren't the beasts we make them out to be, they can be trained and are actually nice." I said back. Dad grew really really mad and slammed his hammer on the metal in front of him shouting, "I SAID STOP THE FIGHT!" She opened her eyes and jumped over me, wrapped her tail around me protectively and burst into flames, all except the small part of her body that was near me. "Hiccup!" Dad shouted as all the vikings came down from all sides. She roared and suddenly, all the dragons from all the cages came out and formed a protective circle around us.

The Nightmare burst into flames, the Nadder flicked her spikes, the Gronkle opened its mouth, the Hideous Zippleback made a few sparks and the terrible terror got into attack position. Only Dad and Gobber were inside the circle. Dad shouted at her, "GIVE HIM BACK YOU MONSTER! WE ARE HIS FAMILY!" The vikings outside weren't attacking but had their weapons up high. She didn't flinch, but started writing on the ground. WAIT! WRITING?! She wrote impossibly fast and neatly. Well, I thought it was impossible for a dragon to write at all! Gobber came forward wearily but she made no signs of aggression.

"Sure, but only by blood. You never think of his feelings. You look down on him. Why? Because he isn't like you. You see him as weak. Granted, he isn't strong physically, but mentally, he is very strong. If he wasn't, he would have ran away already. He is smart, intelligent. Who do you think build and sharpen your weapons? Hiccup! He isn't Hiccup the useless, he is Hiccup the intelligent. Oh, and I'm his family too." Gobber read out. Everyone was stunned, including me. Was this dragon spying on me, on Berk? And what did it mean when it said it was family. Dad was utterly shock and his jaw was opened wide. I tried to go to him, but the flames increased its intensity. I sighed. I noticed Astrid at the edge of the dragon circle, looking at me worriedly. The dragons let her past and she ran to me and hugged me, causing the crowd to go 'ah' and 'ooh'. Snotlout was pissed. He came to the circle but the Nadder blocked his way. He jumped back and went back into the sea of vikings.

At this, Dad seemed to collect himself and said, "I don't care. Give him back." The dragon wrote her answer down and Gobber read it again, "Why, so you can ill treat him again?" Dad opened his eyes indignantly, "No we don't! Right hiccup?" I was taken aback, I did not expect him to ask me. "A... I... I..." I stuttered. "Oh just answer already!" Dad shouted. When he shouted, something inside of me just... Snapped. "YOU DO! EVERY SINGLE DAY! SNOTLOUT AND THE TWINS WOULD BULLY ME! EVERY TIME I TRY TO DO SOMETHING, EVERYONE WOULD SHUT ME DOWN! YOU NEVER LISTEN TO ME! WHEN I TRY TO TALK TO YOU, YOU NEVER LISTEN!" I yelled at him. After that, the whole arena was quiet. The dragon that held me opened a way for me and Astrid to go, but we didn't move, we just stayed there.

In my head, I recalled Gobber saying something about me running away. That would solve all my problems, but I don't want to leave Astrid. Suddenly, I heard a whisling sound that was unique to the unholy offspring of lighting and death itself, the Night Fury. Someone yelled, "Night Fury! Get down!" Then, smoke covered the entire arena. Toothless was in front of me. I hopped on and got ready to leave when Astrid hopped on too. I looked at her in disbelieve and she just gave me the just-go-already-if-not-they'll-know-and-stop-you look. I nodded and we took off.

Eyia's POV

That did not go well. I gave a small roar and the dragons flew away, but not before picking up certain teenager vikings. I smiled and flew off with them.
