{Mark's POV}

I went to the bathroom and looked in the mirror. I couldn't believe it. I tried to hurt my own daughter. What kind of sick fuck would do that?!

You, Mark, you would do that.

You, Mark Edward Fischbach, is that sick fuck that almost killed your daughter. You had no self-control, Mark.

"Shut up!" I yelled as I punched the mirror. I breathed heavily as I looked at my distorted reflection. The glass cracked and small pieces were now on the floor.

"Damn it," I hissed as I began picking up the glass.

"Mark, you alright in there, I heard glass breaking," Jess said while standing outside the door.

"Yeah, I'm fine, just-just give me a minute," I said as I put the shards in the trash can.

"Ok, breakfast is ready, so when you're done just come down here."

I heard her walk away and sighed.

She can't know.

She has to know.

She can't!

She has to!

It's for your safety!

It's for her safety!

She'll turn you in, call you a freak, leave you for another family.

She'll understand and accept me for who I am. She'll stay with me. She won't leave.

{Little author note break but damn I love his internal argument with himself, the positive side and the negative side, I think it adds more to it}

I took a deep breath and left the bathroom with a new flannel and a new pair of jeans. I went downstairs and saw Jess sitting at the table, just staring at the untouched plate.

"Hey, you alright?" I asked as I sat down at the table.

"Oh, yeah, I'm just tired, that's all," she said while smiling at me.

She's lying. She just knows about what you are. It doesn't take a rocket scientist.

No, she's not.

"Alright, make sure to get some rest later, ok."

"Yeah, Dad, whatever," she said while rolling her eyes and picking up her fork.

Too bad you won't be hearing that anymore.

Just shut up!

We ate in silence, which was weird, especially for the two of us.

"So, what are you gonna record today?" She asked while finally breaking the tension.

"I actually thought about taking a break today. I'm sure everyone would understand."

"So, what are you going to do?"

"Maybe go to the park, maybe take a night hike in the forest, I don't know yet."

I held my breath as I waited for a response.

"Sounds legit," she said while putting her plate in the sink.

"Maybe you would like to go, you know, to get out of the apartment for a while."

She nodded as she sat down at the table again, "Yeah, what time are we leaving?"

"Sunset, hence the name night hike," I said sarcastically.

She laughed and covered her face. "Yeah, I guess you're right."

Tonight, she'll know the truth.
