Kick POV

She's a new fighter. I've never seen her around the past 6 years of tournaments.

She seems to be new to fighting in general. Though it was a disadvantage that her uncertainty concealed any visible indicator or clue of her ability or weapon, it did mean she was inexperienced.

And so she did not see me coming.

I streaked down towards her, my boot ablaze and aimed at her chest. I start to lean back a bit mid air, trying to angle myself to reduce the hurt on her. She's just a kid after all.

But instead my teeth rattle in my skull as I meet her in impact.

It feels as if I kicked a mountain of obsidian. I look down and find the most oddest shield I've ever seen.

It's a leaf.

I nearly broke my foot more than it already is, to a leaf.

I hop off and watch the leaf shrink while lengthening into the girl's hand as a handle to a sword.

Well this is interesting. And weird. Very weird.

She fumbles to try and figure out how a hilt of a leaf is held while I make a dash around her.

Dropping with momentum, I slide, sweeping her off her feet and onto the ground where I'm ready.

H  eh e    h. . A  h h. . Ri n  a w ou  ld h a  ve lik ed t  h   a t.

My arms fold over her chest, pinning her arms to her sides. I slip one arm to her throat, essentially holding her in a chokehold.

I can barely feel any muscles in this shortie. I'm acutely aware of instead how fragile she feels. I can feel her ribs as she tries to twist out of my grip.

I hesitate and loosen my grip more.

Why would they let someone so young and weak fight with power users?

Perhaps she is a range fighter? Magic? Energy?

Her leaf catches me off guard and slashes me across the face with its side.

Frick! What is this thing made of?!

I feel warmth trickle in a line where it had grazed me. It returns, front curled like a fist and practically punches me.

I've never been punched by a leaf before, and I can say it's not a fun experience.

"Ack!" I release her, scooting on the ground to put distance between us.

The leaf returns to her hand, where a slight yellow glow passes between them.

An energy user then.

I rise to my feet, letting energy charge in my boots, the star fragment only using barely a fraction of its full strength.

I raise a foot before slamming it down, sending a shockwave through the earth in a 10 m radius.

Leif drops back down, unable to keep her balance. I lunge forward and grab her legs, pulling her around me. I spin her in a few circles before letting momentum carry her away, crashing into the dust again.

I'm already pacing towards her, flames licking the metal of my soles. I catch her in her back, searing her skin with heat, but not enough to sever anything important.

She yells in pain, the leaf wrapped around her arm and directing it towards me.

"Can't you fight without that thing?" I  as her sloppy punch thuds against my chest.
