Passengers of flight no. 218, Manila to Sydney, please proceed to Gate 1 for the departure. Thank you.

I sigh as I stand up from my seat, grabbing my backpack and putting my headphones around my neck before walking infront of the entrance of where a flight attendant starts checking people's passport and tickets.

As I stood behind a 14 year old girl who has her mom on her side, my memories from last month starts to flash in my mind.

"Ano?? Ma, pwede namang hindi na ako mag collegeeh. Maghahanap nalang ako ng trabahao, at tsaka 18 na po ako"

TRANSLATION: What?? Ma, its fine if I won't go to college. I'll just find a job, and besides Im already 18.

"Zoe, mas mahalaga parin ang pagaaral mo. Gusto lang namin ng papa mo na makapag-tapos ka" she said in a sweet voice, trying to calm me down.

TRANSLATION: Zoe, your study is more important. Your papa and I just wanted you to finish your study.

"But ma, ayokong malayo sainyo ni papa" I said biting the inside of my bottom lip trying to hold back my tears. She stand up from her seat and hug me.

TRANSLATION: But ma, I dont want to be away from you and papa.

"Anak, para sayo rin toh. At nandun naman yung kaibigan ko para alagaan ka" she cares my hair and I hug her back.

TRANSLATION: Child, this is also for you. And my friend is there to take care of you.

"Pero sa Australia yun ma. Ang layo nun sa Pilipinas. Hindi kita mabibisita pag gusto ko" I said and starts to cry at the thought of me not being able to see my parents.

TRANSLATION: But it's in Australia, ma. It's far from Philippines. I won't be able to visit you whenever I want.

"Sisiguraduhin kong makaka-bisita ka tuwing bakasyon, okay?" she pull away and cares my cheeks with both of her hands, giving me an encouraging smile.

TRANSLTION: I'll make sure you'll be able to visit us every holiday, okay?

"Okay" I said giving up the arguement and pouting at the end and looking at the ground.

"Uhmm may kailangan ka pa palang malaman" I heard my mom say in a nervouse tone so I look up.

TRANSLATION: Uhmm you also need to know something.

"Kailangan mong gamitin ang apilyedo ng kaibigan ko para mas mapadali ang pagaaral mo sa Australia. In short, ia-adopt ka nya" she said and my jaw nearly hit the floor.

TRANSLATION: You need to use my friend's last name to make your study in Australia alot easier. In short, she'll adopt you.

I am now sitting in my designated seat and I immediately put my headphones on. I open my phone and send a message to my parents and my bestfriend, saying Im already inside the plane. I then, go to my music library and play shuffle. Summer Love starts to play and I sigh before drifting off to sleep, since its 5 in the morning and I need my f.ucking sleep.

//

My parents didnt exactly told me who's going to fetch me in the airport,(dunno why) but they told me that she has a blond hair in her mid 40's, and will be holding a sign with my name on it. I actually cringed at the thought of my name being held in a cardboard around the airport, but whatever its not like they know me after all.

I kept on pestering them about who's this friend is but they really wont tell me. And now I'm still thinking who she is. My mom said its her old friend, who she met in Australia when my grandpa decided to have a vacation trip there during her highschool days. She also said her friend has 3 sons, and never had a daughter so she's kinda excited to have me around her house.

I just wish my life in Australia will be okay, and I'll get to finish my college without anything bad happen.
