Sitting up in bed abruptly, you panted while sweat poured down your forehead.

"(Y/N)? Is everything alright," Yang Zao questioned as he sat up alongside you in bed. He gently wrapped his arm around your shoulders before pulling you into his chest.

Taking deep breathes, attempting to stabilize yourself; the scent of opium that lingered on your boyfriend calmed your nerves.

"Y-yeah, I just had a bad dream," you mumbled into his chest as you returned his embrace.

"Again? This is the second time this week. Would you like to talk about it," he questioned with concerned laced in his voice. His hand rubbed circles on your back, soothing your nerves.

The sound of sniffling caused Zao to pull you back for you to face him. Tears cascaded down your cheeks as you stared into his eyes. Attempting to wipe them away, Zao held your hand back to peck it, then both of your cheeks.

"Please, tell me what is concerning you. I promise to listen, and try my best to ease your worries," he spoke delicately.

Sniffling once again, you took a deep breath before nodding at him.

"Please, don't leave me. Don't let the drugs take you away from me," you begged shakily in between tears. Upon your plea, you immediately hid your face in his chest, afraid to see his facial expression.

Crying into his chest, Zao stayed stoic, thinking over your comment. He was the reason for your tears?

Finally coming to realization, he began to pet your hair. "Never will I let anything come between us. You are just too important to lose."

Pulling your face from his chest to look into his own eyes, you could almost feel all the passion that swirled within them. The tears the once pooled down your face ceased, and you stared in awe at your loving boyfriend.

"You mean it?"

"Of course. I would give opium up for you, even though it is my life. I would rather fade away than live in a world without you," he replied in a serious manner before gracing you with a kind smile.

Cuddling into his side as you lay in the bed together; you listened closely to his breathing. The moment that took place just minutes ago wore you out, but you still couldn't return to sleep.

"Can you sing to me," you questioned out of the blue in hopes of his voice to lure you to sleep.

"I think you would have an easier time sleeping without hearing my singing voice," he remarked playfully.

"Please, just this once," you begged, looking up at his face with wide begging eyes. Staring into your eyes, he finally leaned forward and kissed your forehead.

"The things I do for you," he mumbled before humming a nostalgic tune. His soothing voice sang quietly in his native language as your eyes grew heavier.

"I love you," you whispered out before drifting into your dream state.

"Wo ai ni," he breathed out before following your actions and falling asleep.

Also, Wo ai ni translates to I love you in Mandarin.
