Paper Cut-Linkin Park

Why does it feel like night today?
Something in here's not right today.
Why am I so uptight today?
Paranoia's all I got left
I don't know what stressed me first
Or how the pressure was fed
But I know just what it feels like
To have a voice in the back of my head
Like a face that I hold inside
A face that awakes when I close my eyes
A face that watches every time I lie
A face that laughs every time I fall
(And watches everything)

"They are so stupid. Why can't my parents just realize that this is my life," you shouted before smoking your blunt.

Shrugging his shoulders, Wang continued to listen to you while smoking his own blunt. The two of you smoked marijuana on your back patio, well; technically it was your parent's patio.

"Why can't I just live with you Wang? Please," you begged, but your only response was a puff of smoke to the face.

So I know that when it's time to sink or swim
That the face inside is hearing me
Right beneath my skin

"(Y/N), who are you talking to- (Y/N)," your mother shouted upon stepping on the patio. "What did I tell you about smoking? Don't! Give me that," she said snatching the blunt from you.

"Bitch! You don't own my life," you screamed at her before turning to face where Wang once was. Noticing the empty space, your eyes widened for two reasons. 1) Wang was gone 2) Your mother just slapped you.

It's like I'm paranoid lookin' over my back
It's like a whirlwind inside of my head
It's like I can't stop what I'm hearing within
It's like the face inside is right beneath my skin
I know I've got a face in me
Points out all my mistakes to me
You've got a face on the inside too
Your paranoia's probably worse
I don't know what set me off first
But I know what I can't stand
Everybody acts like the fact of the matter is
I can't add up to what you can but

"Get out! You're no child of mine," she yelled at you, pointing away from your home.

"Fine, I will," you said rushing past her to your car, driving to the only person that understood you.

Knocking on his door, Wang opened the door with confusion. "(Y/N), what are you doing here," your boyfriend asked before inviting you in.

"My "mom" kicked me out. But really, I should be asking why you ditched me," you asked angrily.

Sighing, Wang light a blunt before handing it to you. "You need a smoke," he said before lighting one for himself.

Inhaling before exhaling the cloud of smoke, your body began to relax, and you made yourself comfy on his couch.

"I'm bunking here," you informed his. Nodding his head, he continued to smoke with you.

Everybody has a face that they hold inside
A face that awakes when I close my eyes
A face that watches every time they lie
A face that laughs every time they fall
(And watches everything)
So you know that when it's time to sink or swim
That the face inside is watching you too
Right inside your skin

Sitting up from your once sleeping position, you took a deep breath. Looking around the room that seemed to spin, you steadily moved yourself to a sitting position. Everything was spinning, and nothing seemed real. Blinking repeatedly, you felt a hand on your shoulder.

"(Y/N), drink this," the familiar voice said handing you what you assumed was a glass and a pill. Quickly, you swallowed the pill, drowning it down with the water. The hand laid you back down as the room seemed to still itself slowly.

"Wang," you breathed out at the sight of his concerned face. His eyes held pain when you said the name, but he gave you a weak smile.

"Get some sleep, (Y/N), everything will be alright," he calmly said before putting a blanket on your body.

Following his orders, you quickly fell back asleep.

It's like I'm paranoid lookin' over my back
It's like a whirlwind inside of my head
It's like I can't stop what I'm hearing within
It's like the face inside is right beneath my skin
The face inside is right beneath your skin

In your dream, you walked down a dark street. Voices filled the air, and footsteps followed behind you. You sped your pace to get somewhere, you knew where, but didn't. The voices grew louder, till a hand flew to your wrist. You released a loud scream, but a familiar voice shushed you.

"(Y/N), it's alright."

The sun goes down
I feel the light betray me
The sun goes down
I feel the light betray me
The sun
I feel the light betray me
The sun
I feel the light betray me

Opening your eyes, the sunlight greeted your eyes from the window, and Wang's face smiled at you.

"Good morning my beauty," he said. The sadness was still in his eyes, but your surroundings looked different.

"Where are we," you asked sitting up quickly.

"We are home," he said calmly, grasping your hand closest to him. Unbeknownst to you, tears began to pool from your eyes.

"Home," you mouthed the word repeatedly.

"Yes, home, now take your medicine," he said before handing you some pills and some water. Obediently, you swallowed the pills.

It's like I'm paranoid lookin' over my back
It's like a whirlwind inside of my head
It's like I can't stop what I'm hearing within
It's like the face inside is right beneath my skin
It's like I'm paranoid lookin' over my back
It's like a whirlwind inside of my head
It's like I can't stop what I'm hearing within
It's like I can't stop what I'm hearing within
It's like I can't stop what I'm hearing within
It's like the face inside is right beneath my skin

"My dreams were so strange last night Wang. I dreamed that we were hitting a blunt, I got kicked out of home, and then I stayed at your house. The house began to swirl, then I was walking down the street! But when I was walking someone grabbed my wrist, then I woke up," you explained to Wang.

He chuckled and gave your hand a slight squeeze. "What a strange dream indeed," he replied before kissing your forehead, and leaving the room. Strangely enough, it looks a lot like a hospital bed, or a rehab centers room. Strange indeed.

Author's Note: Yes, this was a request but I also wrote it for my dear cousin. Yes, I know this whole one shot was confusing but I was doing it in the perspective of a schizophrenic reader. I don't personally have it, but my cousin does. I know I probably shouldn't mention that, but schizophrenia needs a better understanding in society, and this song inspired me to do this. Schizophrenia is a serious disorder which affects how a person thinks, feels and acts. Someone with schizophrenia may have difficulty distinguishing between what is real and what is imaginary. I apologize for the confusing one-shot, but I really couldn't help myself. I'll write a better one soon loves, I promise~
