Chapter Two: Will things change?

"Danyel?"

I snapped out of my thoughts once again and looked at my dad who just arrived in the room.

"Morning Dad," I smiled.

"Morning. You ready for the first day of school?"

"Yes I sure am." I lied. I was far from ready. I was terrified. Every possible situation just ran through my head. What if I fall walking in? Or worse what if I fall in front of Corbin and he laughs? What if I get something on my shirt? What if everything goes perfect? Yeah right. Like that's gonna happen.

"Well she better eat them pancakes before they get cold." Mom said smiling.

"What?" I said looking confused.

"Your pancakes.. eat them before they get cold."

"Oh right. Thanks Mom."

"No problem. Here are yours honey."

"Thanks babe," my dad said giving her a quick kiss.

"Where are your brothers?" my Mom asked.

"Oh they are upstairs. Last I checked they we're arguing." I said. like always I thought.

"And you just let them argue?"

"Well yes. because I always break it up and I was tired of doing it."

"Okay. Well go tell them I have pancakes for them."

"Sure," I got up and went upstairs.

"Dan and Tay!"

"What!" they both turned to me.

"Mom has pancakes for you both."

"Okay thanks." Tay said as he dashed downstairs.

I started to walk away and seen Dan still sitting down.

"Did you hear me?" I asked Dan.

"Yes. I just don't feel like eating."

"Okay."

I could tell something was bothering him but instead of asking I just left and went downstairs. He never tells anyone anything. I sat down and finished my pancakes. It was delicious.

"Where's Dan?" My dad asked confused.

"He said he didn't feel like eating."

"Oh. that's not like him."

Even though my brothers are annoying I still love them and hate seeing them upset. I went back upstairs and sat next to Dan.

"You okay?" I asked concerned.

"Not really. But it's nothing."

"Okay. But just know I'm here for you if you need me."

"Thanks."

"Sure." I said as I got up and went back downstairs.

Well I tried. I Should have known he wouldn't tell me.

"You ready?" My mom asked looking at me.

I gave a smile reassuring I was.

"The bus stop is not that far from here."

"I know. I want to drive you on your first day!"

"Okay." I smiled.

"Bye Dad. Love you." I said as I gave him a hug.

"Bye sweetheart. Enjoy your day. Love you too."

"Bye honey." my mom said giving him a kiss.

"Bye." my dad said.

My dad stayed behind to take my brothers to school. I was glad to ride with my mom instead of the bus with all those freshman. Well I'm a freshman too but I'm more mature so you think I'm older.

"Well we are here."

That was fast. Did I really think that long?

"Bye. Have a good day. I love you."

"Okay. I love you too." I said getting out of the car.

"Danyel."

"Yes?" I said as I turned around.

"You can ride the bus home okay?"

"Okay."

I watched as my mom drove off. I wanted to yell TAKE ME BACK HOME! but I had to do this. I don't know why I was so nervous? I got this. I have two friends already here. This is a fresh start. I was ready. I started making my way to the front door. I took a deep breath and opened it. I got this I thought.
