Blood.

Scarlet liquid spraying everywhere like rain.

Death around each corner.

Horrid devil-like creatures roaming freely.

Humanity itself, perishing before my very eyes.

Lucy's Pov

My body spasmed as I woke up, a scream caught in my throat. I felt a familiar wetness in my eyes that slowly trickled down my cheeks.

It was just a dream?

But what was it exactly?

I sighed and leaned my head against the back of the seat, letting my gaze wander around my small compartment. I let out a relieved breath. I was in the train. I was not in danger. I was with my friends. They were fine. Everything was perfectly fine.

Everyone else was asleep. So I was alone with my own thoughts. I looked over my shoulder to stare into the window. The scenery passed by quickly in my vision as new ones came up and took their place.

I let my head lean against the window and I sighed. My vision was blurry and unfocused. I let out a long yawn and curled up on the seat. Pulling my discarded coat closer to my body, I let my eyes close like black curtains.

              ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

I groaned loudly as someone shook my shoulder. I rolled over in an attempt to ignore the shaking but the shaking only persisted. Whoever was shaking me must have got irritated because I felt a light pinch on my cheek.

"Lu come on! We gotta get on the train now!" Levy yelled in my ear.

My eyes immediately shot open and I jolted forward. I stood up quickly and grabbed my bag from my seat, and I flew off down the aisle. Leaving a yelling and flailing Levy in the dust.

              ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

The cobblestone path stretched out in front of us as the townsfolk bustled to get everything in before the forecasted snowstorm.

The chilling bit of the air nipped at my arms and I pulled my coat tighter around my shoulders and shivered.

Ahead of me, Erza stretched and looked up towards the sky. "It is quite a nice day, huh?" Erza said. Everyone stared at her in disbelief. How did she think it was a nice day?

It was literally below zero outside and she thought it was nice outside? I shook my head in exasperation. Sometimes I couldn't believe this woman.

25 Minutes Later

Normal Pov

They had finally arrived at the senders house after a few minutes. But it felt like it was forever to everyone except Erza and Mira. Mira was too excited to notice the cold at all. And Erza was totally oblivious to everything.

They started walking up to a soft grey house that looked like it had stood the test of time. The paint peeled off the building in long swathes, revealing cracked and crumbling bricks.

Mira was first. Taking careful steps up the broken staircase, she politely knocked on the door. They waited for a few moments before they heard some slight shuffling inside. A middle-aged lady who had straight, shiny black hair opened the door with a large smile.

"Why hello there!" The lady said, smiling even wider. "You must be the Fairy Tail mages that took my request!" She continued clapping her hands together with enthusiasm. Her amber eyes sparkled.

Erza smiled and extended her armored hand out to the older woman. The lady gave Erza's hand a firm shake. "Erza Scarlet." "Carla" They exchanged their names and released the hand shake. The absence of a surname did not seem to escape Erza's notice.

The greeting ended as quickly as it came, and the lady gestured them to come inside. They all obeyed and came inside her home.

It was pretty decked out. It was a traditional home with a stone fire place, a little kitchen, a hallway that lead to a master bedroom, and a large living room. But what was breathtaking was the antique items on the shelf. They were glass characters shaped in animals, people, elements, and items. They looked like they were over 200 years old. Lucy walked over to the shelf and looked at a certain character. It was a beautiful woman with blonde hair and brown hair, she was wearing a fancy pink dress and had a set of keys in her hands. Lucy gasped quietly with sad recognition. The figure seemed to move her little head towards Lucy. Lucy blinked and shook her head. The figure was now as still as a glass figure was supposed to be. She shrugged it off and followed Mira who had stayed behind to look at the figures too. But Lucy was still sad, nervous, confused and.......scared.

Carla led them into the living room and told them to take a seat. Carla sat down on a plush armchair that was facing the fireplace, but she turned it so the back of it was facing the fireplace. Wendy and Lucy sat down on the little couch, Erza sat on a stool, and Mira and Levy sat on a love seat. " Thank you so much for coming. it means a lot to me. Here" Carla said, handing Erza a map of the town with ink markings on it. Erza scanned over it as the lady continued on. "This map is the map of the town and the forest. I circled all the places that the portal has shown up in red ink." Carla finished, licking her dry lips. They all nodded and Erza handed the map over to Levy. Levy read over it quickly and put it in her backpack with all of her books and supplies. Carla looked at her wall clock and her face pinched.

Nobody noticed this except Wendy who was too timid to speak up and tell everyone. "Oh, you children should really get going. It's gonna get dark soon." Carla said nervously. They all nodded confusedly, but they headed out of the house and back into the town.

As the door shut softly behind the girls, the woman stood in place until the sound of footsteps petered off. She padded over to the window, shoving aside the cotton curtains to peer out. All that greeted her was the empty expanse of the night, with no one in sight.

Sighing in relief, her shoulders dropped down from the tense position that they had occupied near her ears. She lowered herself back into her armchair and draped her cool hands over her tired eyes. But the little blonde woman figure started to sparkle and fade. The sparkles seemed to dance over to the middle of the room and stop. The little lights formed a woman that looked like the little figure.

A soft hand gripped hers tightly. Carla looked into the soft brown eyes of the woman whom she held so dear.

"Good job with getting the children on the way Carla. I'm happy to see my little girl find her memories and her true past." Carla smiled happily and stood up.

She faced the woman and grinned. "I'm happy my son and his friends will find true happiness too, Layla."
