Chapter 23: The Tradition.....

There was fettuccine and Alfredo, Cesar salad, and garlic bread.

I heard a loud growl. My head snapped up and I looked around. Everyone sent me a questioning look.

My hand clasped my stomach. My cheeks heated up from embarrassment. "Sorry...." I mumbled.

A few awkward seconds later, they all erupted with laughter. I sunk down into my chair and allowed my wet hair to fall in front of my face.

I felt a warm hand touch my thigh and I suddenly tensed. I looked over at Zach and he gave me a confused look.

"What's wrong?" He asked in a whisper.

I shrugged and tried to ignore the fact that his hand was on my thigh.

Once the laughter died down, Mr. Bryant cleared his throat. "Anyways....sorry Rachel.... Everyone can start digging in."

The food was passed around the table. Once everyone got their food, we all started eating.

"Wow, this is really good!!!" I complimented, taking another bite of food.

"I agree!" Evelyn beamed.

"Helen and Julianne made it." Jack's father smiled.

I'm assuming Helen is his wife and Julianne is Zach's mom.

"Well it is very good Luna and Mrs. Brown." Jack's mom sent me a warming smile while Mrs. Bryant frowned.

"On dear, you can call me Julianne." She informed me.

I nodded. "Okay, Julianne."

The rest of dinner we just ate and talked. We talked about the ceremony and how it was going to work, and that I shouldn't go out into the forest any time soon.

Which by the way, I fully agreed to it. But then, the conversation changed to the tradition.....

"So Zach, have you told her about the tradition?" Mr. Bryant asked with a smirk.

Zach was midway in eating a bite of his food, but stopped abruptly. I literally started choking on the water I was sipping. Grasping for air, I coughed really hard.

All eyes turned to me and I began blushing professedly. Once my hacking spree was finished, Mr. Bryant turned his attention back to Zach. "Well.....have you."

"I-I uh....." he stuttered.

"Yes he did." I finished for him. I could tell I was blushing like crazy, because my cheeks were on fire. I didn't focus on the Alpha, I was just poking at my pasta.

"Well....you two aren't going to be breaking it, right?" Mr. Bryant asked.

"Dad-" Zach starts.

"Because that tradition has been going on for centuries." He continued, cutting Zach off.

"It would be so cute seeing them with babies." Mrs. Brown beamed at the thought.

"Yeah they would be so cute." Evelyn agreed.

I sunk down into my chair once more  as they continued to talk about Zach and I having children. I sent Zach an uncomfortable look. My expression mirrored on his face. His cheeks were slightly tinted pink.

This is like the first time I've ever seen him blush.....

His grip on his fork tightened, making the metal utensil bend. He abruptly stood up, causing the chair to screech against the floor. All eyes were on him.

"SHUT UP!!!!" He yelled.

His parents stared at him in shock, probably because he used the wrong tone with them, but I most likely would've done the same thing. Evelyn had a scared expression on her face as well as Jack's parents. Jack, unlike everyone else, was calm.

"You are all talking about children, and I haven't even marked her yet!!! What makes you think we are ready to mate?!" His voice was so loud and intimidating that I was even scared.

Everyone was speechless. Even I was speechless. I started feeling guilty about the fact that I haven't aloud him to mark me yet. It's unnatural for mates to not mate when they find each other.

"You haven't marked her yet......?" his father's voice was calm but yet shocked.

Zach didn't say anything. Mr. Bryant's eyes trailed over to me. I shifted in my seat uncomfortably.

Within a flash, Zach was gone. He wasn't in the room anymore. The sound of a door slamming shut echoed throughout the house.

We all sat awkwardly in our chairs. Tension filled the air.

I slowly stood up from my chair. "I'll go talk to him....." I muttered before leaving the dining room.

Oooo do you guys think he is going to finally mark her soon or are they going to keep putting it off?

Sorry if this chapter is super crappy. I know, all my chapters are terrible.... Anyways, I hope you guys all enjoyed this chapter. You all know the routine ;)
