I took a deep breath and slowly walked towards the big mahogany doors, my hands were shaking my breath was irregular and I was pretty sure that I was sweating waterfalls. I pushed the doors open with all my might and let a stray gasp escape me, smoothing down my dress I looked up once more and took in the beautiful and regal decorations of the room.

The crystal droplets hanging from the chandeliers glistened and sparkled, emitting the illusion of rainbows all over the high ceiling. The aroma of fresh finger food and caviar all mixed together with the scented candelabras that stood tall and proud on each of the circular tables that littered the sides of the ballroom floor. I could hear the constant jittering chatter coming from the hundreds of people that were all draped from head to toe in silks and lace that were imported from all around the world. The band playing classical soothing music that the stray couples were dancing to, was what filled my ears the most, the soft glides and leaps of the notes, the tune that was so familiar yet so strange was what stood out to me the most.

That was when I first saw him, an angel standing there in the middle of the dance floor, his face illuminated and glowing in the soft candlelight. Bright, sparkling child-like emerald green pupils gazed back at me with such intensity they rendered me breathless. His olive skin glinting in the vague light, a playful and cheeky smirk was forming on his flawless full pink lips as he looked back at me. I couldn't help but stare at him, as I walked across the room towards him. In those few passing seconds he looked a creation that was made to be immaculate, as if he was supposed to be an angel and not some ordinary human.

His smirk widened as he slowly offered his hand out to me and said in his slow raspy voice "Dance with me". I felt as if it was a command and not an offer but at that very moment I didn't care, my body suddenly had a mind of its very own as I accepted his offer. He leaned back and nodded towards the bandstand and then looked back and gave me a cheeky wink, one that I had grown to love over the years.

Suddenly the song that I only heard once a year began to play and I could feel my eyes widen in surprise and astonishment. I slowly looked up at him through my eyelashes and couldn't help but let out a soft giggle. His eyes closed in relaxation suddenly snapped open as he gradually let his right eyebrow raise in question. I felt his hand move down my back and rest on the curve of my lower back, and I in turn raised my eyebrow back at him. Steadily his shoulders began to shake as he let out melodious chuckles on after the other, whilst I was bursting into a fit of what I was sure were the least graceful giggles that anyone had ever heard.

But right then and there I didn't care about the strange looks that the guests surrounding us were giving us, or the glare that the queen was throwing our way, or even the amused looks that the rest of the royal family had on their usually stoic faces. I was just glad that I could spend time with him even if we looked ridiculous whilst dancing and goofing around with each other. Abruptly he stopped his chuckles and leaned towards me and whispered a phrase that made my decade "I am glad I chose you as the person I will love until after I die". Then he leaned down and planted a kiss on my lips, and just like the first time I felt the fireworks explode, the warmth spreading through every single vein in my body, each cells exploding in happiness. And I couldn't have asked for a better night than that.

It was then that I was assured that whatever life decided to throw at us, our love would last until the end of time itself.

In that moment I felt as if we were infinite
